Is this the shares that you identify to perform This is an experimentation thread. I am testing out some traits I've learned here http://www.incrediblecharts.com/userscripts/forums/show.plx?tpc=10&post=115266#P OST115266 and trying to apply them. In this experiment, I am focusing on trying to pick out a portfolio that consistently performs. I am positive that the first portfolio will have positive gains by the end of the week. The other two are comparative portfolios.

Does it become clear to you? Stocks that rise will rise. Stocks that fall will fall. Stocks that fell will rise. Stocks that rose will fall. The greater your diversification the more average your returns. The longer you hold a stock the more average your return. If you can predict shorter-term swings (including entry and exit at the right time) you can outperform average returns. If you can't you are best to dollar-cost average into a low-cost fund and use your time in other ways.

Stocks that rise will rise. Stocks that fall will fall. Sure, by all means. There is no disagreement on this part. "Stocks that fell will rise. Stocks that rose will fall." By definition, that has to happen right? if its fallen, then you're denoting that its reached it bottom. The greater your diversification the more average your returns. It is true that the more diverse the profile is, the harder it is to get the highest return. However, I would probably say that the greater the diversification, the less variance your returns are likely to be. This all depends though on how consistent your picks are. If you're consistently picking ones that are scoring +10%, then most likely your average will stick around there. This quote does not take compounding into account either. If you can predict shorter-term swings (including entry and exit at the right time) you can outperform average returns. Humans cannot be 100% sure what tomorrow's weather would be like tomorrow. How much more so the weather conditions of the stock market. My aim in the whole thread is to be able to differentiate between ones that are potentially strong stocks. Strong stocks do not already have to be at its peak. Take for instance an athlete - It is not until the gun goes off that he races to the finish line to finish first. An athelete needs to be fit though in order to do this. Likewise, stocks that are strong will eventually run to the peak. Identifying the 'fitness' of the stock is what I am trying to do. I do not want to 'guess' how fit the athlete is - I just want to know that its fit.
