Hi, I'm trying to learn to read charts using price bars and volume only. What are your ideas of the two charts attached? TPI- volume increase for many days but still can't b/o. AQP - huge volume today but couldn't move the bar much. What would you expect to see happen on Monday and what do you think is happening in the minds of buyers and sellers ? Any thoughts appreciated M

You've supersized mum, side by side. your charts and Indicators. [Never seen it done by indicators B4] AnywayI wouldn't BUY either of them at the moment.Hold maybe but not BUY. they've run too hard too much Fat for even 6 mth holders. They're for Distribution. anyhow, see if you can self edit d WIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDth.

oops sorry about that. Too late to edit. Looks fine on my Mac but weird on the PC. I had to e mail my charts over to the Mac from the PC because i couldn't log on with the PC anymore for some strange reason. Such a pain , we are a PC illiterate family .

mum I am not an expert on reading charts but have a look at the weekly chart. Six month rate of change has been over 30% for most of this year - trail an exit and it would have been nice.

TPI looks like a possible 90 day consolidation/distribution pattern March 1st + or- 1 day will be important if thats the case

Hi Mum Unless you're very experienced (and I gather you are not) or a day trader I'd be inclined to put TPI on the back burner for a couple of years until it can build up some history. As Archer correctly pointed out it has been consolidating for some months and could move either way but the increased volume on the 11 consecutive days of negative candles/bars sends little alarm bells that all might not be well. Take care. May

Thanks for that. I am only paper trading- but trying to work out what the bars are telling me. TPI has had volume increase for the 8 days and price is hardly moving. I guess that is accumulation. People selling but buyers moving in as well, lots of dojis. Market in agreement to price, sooo- there should be a b/o soon? Do you reckon that would be the right analysis M

Hi Mum I don't mean to promote a particular person or their literary achievements but Louise Bedford's books would give you a good, solid grounding in understanding candlesticks. If you cannot borrow it from your local library I'd suggest you buy it ... it's not terribly expensive and might be the best dollars you ever invested. She writes in a very down-to-earth fashion and explains the basics in an easy-to-understand way. Hers was one of the first books I read and that was part of getting me on the road to becoming the full-time trader I now am and enjoy way beyond expectation. I sincerely hope you have the same experience. Regards May There is no easy road to success.
