Friendlier- heaps friendlier- charting wise. Luv the Auto fit trendline. Crazy over the standard deviation channel et al. The auto-extend is really cool. Never mind that I can't delete channel lines in one click. I can live with that. Never mind that there's no Fibo yet. I can wait for that. My problem persists though. Given a friendlier tool can I really make it trader friendly even more? regards

Thanks Colin et al for a great improvement on a great product. Like Wanabe1, I love the SD channels and auto extend feature. It would be nice to be able to manipulate the channel lines as one - e.g. delete, auto-extend, change colours (to differentiate say a long term channel from a medium term one) etc. I also love the way that the lines are highlighted so that you know which one you are changing. The rest of the planned improvements should be worth the wait. Thanks, Starb'd

Thanks Starb'd, If we created the channel lines as a single object, you would be able to edit/auto-extend the lines collectively but would not be able to do so individually (e.g. to delete individual lines or set different colors). Obviously with more complex patterns like Fibonacci Retracements or Gann Fans, these will be coded as single objects. Regards, Colin

It's asked quite often, I'm sure Colin probably gets sick of hearing about it! Currently I don't subscribe, so that gives me no right to demand any updates (on what is already a fantastic free product!) I'm sure the improvements/requests will come when they are ready. I always look at it this way.... if I can't make a profit now, no improvement to the current IC will change that... unless Colin can put in a tool that shows you tomorrows Close!!!!!!

007, Andrew pitchforks may prove difficult to add. Have you tried the Standard Deviation Channel? This delivers similar results to Andrews Pitchfork if you use STD of 2.0, or 2.5. Davkell, There are always going to be more requests than we can handle, but we do like to hear from members. Some requests are quite simple to add make big improvements in usability. Perhaps we should ask premium members to vote on what they see as our next development priority. Regards, Colin

G'day Colin Thanks for the suggestion of Premium members voting on "what they see as our next development priority." My assumption is that these votes would carry more weight in your eyes. I'm not good with computer programming so if any of the following seems outrageous to implement then please excuse my ignorance. "If we could export our scanning results to an excel file for printing, storage and manipulation." that would be terrific. I haven't had a look at the new beta version but any improvement to the scanning module would be welcome IMHO. More choice in the % Price Move and specifically shorter timeframes such as 3,2, and 1 week would be welcome. As I stated previously the 3 and 5 year timeframes in % Price Move are basically useless for me. The Moving Average crossovers are adequate for me but others may relish more choice in this basic tool. I would like to repeat my words from July 1, 2006 "Then again I have never had a toolbox with every tool in existence in it. My attitude is to make do with the tools you have. IC is still a very cost effective package for me." I found in my early exploration of TA that it was very easy to see any indicator as the new holy grail but have found through a lot of hard work with backtesting that it's best for me to keep it simple. All the best to you and your development team. Thanks for your steady, continuing improvements 888

Good Evening Colin, Thanks for continuing improvement of IC. Even though we all would like what we [individually]would like I would imagine that we all appreciate the improvements that you're overseeing. I certainly do. If you decide to design a more formal voting system I would like you to include U.K. data and hourly updates for both U.S. and U.K. data for premium members to vote on. I don't intend to go into details now but if specific indicators are in the frame I'd like you to consider completing "sets" of indicators. What I mean by that is that it's apparent that many members follow, even if loosely, a particular methodology [an author]. I've noticed that IC's selection of indicators allow us to largely follow a method but not completely e.g. [personally relevant as I'm sure you'll recall] for Bollinger's Bands we have Bands, MFI and Volatility which is a close approximation of Bandwidth. That's ...O.K. but vital and missing is %b. Also to complete the set, Intra-day intensity appears very useful. The same situation applies to those who follow other methods. Again thanks I hope you have time to consider above.

Colin (and hard-working development team) that's a good idea to ask members to vote on function and priority. Could you please publish a list of the; Probable - likely additions coming up Possible - what might be available if enough members request) Of Interest - Things we may not have thought of to make your life difficult! Thanks again for a great product. I'm happy!

Development is divided into two major areas: (1) Charting Application Tools, Indicators & Stock Screens (2) New Data There are too many individual items (stock screen filters, indicators, drawing tools) for it to be practical to hold a vote on this basis. Besides, we cannot hop from one to the other, but must complete a specific group or section before moving on to the next. The most practical way to obtain members' assistance in setting development priorities would be to hold a vote as to which categories/groups should be addressed first in each of the above two areas. Charting Application Tools, Indicators & Stock Screens Fibonacci Tools, Horizontal & Vertical Trendlines Text Boxes and Horizontal/Vertical Arrow Caption Markers Andrews Pitchfork New Stock Screen Filters (e.g. Twiggs Money Flow; NR4) Stock Screens - hourly updates (as opposed to end of day) Stock Screens - ability to save groups of filters as separate files Stock Screens & Watchlists - print/save as CSV file (for Excel) Watchlists - ability to add, edit or delete large groups of stocks Watchlists - pre-load index watchlists (e.g. ASX 200, S&P500) New Indicators Market Indicators (e.g. Advance-Decline; New Highs New Lows) Display Dividends on Charts Display Dilutions on Charts Darvas Boxes Swing Charts Kagi & Three-Line Break Charts Pattern Recognition Module Work Offline (ability to Download Watchlist and operate IC without an internet connection) Intra-day charts (Hour and Minute Bars) Intra-day Point & Figure charts Data US 15-minute delayed Forex & Precious Metals 5-minute delayed ASX 20-minute delayed SFE 15-minute delayed TSX 15-minute delayed LSE 15-minute delayed NZX 15-minute delayed Commodities & Futures 15-minute delayed Singapore 15-minute delayed India 15-minute delayed Fundamental Data (e.g. Market Cap; PE Ratio; EPS growth; EBITDA) Regards, Colin (Message edited by colin_twiggs on January 16, 2007)

"the lot" sounds good. Barring that..... Under CHARTING APPLICATION TOOLS.... I vote for: 1. Fibonacci tools [naturally], Horizontal and vertical trendlines. 2. [Some] new indicators [to complete "sets" favoured by various authors as stated in previous posts] + VWAP. Under DATA 1. U.S. 15 min delayed. 2. LSE 15 min delayed. Thanks for the opportunity to have a "say" but with such a tantalising list, choosing may still be difficult. Good Luck.

well Colin,I hope you put VWAP in the Indicators TA and not let it be dismissed as just some sweet FA flotsam. Working thru the I.T> sector it would have been really helpful to know the average price by Volume in thin traded shares over up to the preceding 30 days, and any times earlier than that. I know some have called for even 200 day VWAP but that'd be irrelevant,IMHO. VWAP is the PROFESSIONAL Short Term Moving Average. It is completely more RELEVANT than EOD but you have to calculate it over Time not just on the day[like some brokers provide]Anyway,I've found even EOD figure quite useful in that it CAN give a better indication of Tomorrow's Action, where the price may retreat to or return. That's because all d'BigBoys use VWAP not that ol' hoary cliche of EOD is when profs set the price. Anyway,Colin is there some real problem in getting Dollars Spent each of 30 days divided by Volume? regards, John -a recent signed up,card carrying, Premium Paying Member

John, VWAP is definitely on the list. Not as an indicator because it requires new data. We need to receive turnover as well as existing volume. Then you can calculate VWAP for any period. It could be interesting comparing to moving average for the same period. Thanks for signing up. Regards, Colin

Davkell, This should only happen when we do a live update, upon which the necessary files are updated. If the "Whats New" page is displaying each time you restart IncredibleCharts, I suspect one of the files that should be updated is not being updated. Are you receiving any warning messages ? Nope that didn't work either. Can you email me your email address for direct attachment Robin. I thought I had it, but don't!

Fibonacci and Davkell, Wanabe1 has managed to submit the file to me. I think I've found the problem, so its probably unnecessary to submit the log file at this stage. Thanks to all for the feedback !!! The live update is attempting to update the "license.txt" file ( "license" in your Windows Explorer if Windows Explorer does not show extensions ) in your IncredibleCharts folder, but is failing. There has not been a change in our license agreement in the last 5 years, but the copy in your IncredibleCharts folder is not correct. Using Windows Explorer: Right-click on the license file in your IncredibleCharts folder and choose "Properties". Once the properties open, ensure that "Read Only" and "Hidden" are unchecked. Close the properties. Test IncredibleCharts by opening twice ( the first time should update License ). The second time you open IncredibleCharts there should not be a need for an update. Please confirm whether this works. We will then fix the problem in the source code ( overwriting read-only and/or hidden file ). Thanks, Robin

Hi Robin, I've been having the same problem...tried the fix. The "Read Only" and "Hidden" boxes were already unchecked when I looked at the properties. Opened twice but the "whats new' came up the second time (as well as the first). Repeated the whole process but still no joy. regards, wadda

Robin, whatever you did in the backroom burning the midnight candle seems to have worked. Opening twice this morning and no more "what's new". Thanks, wadda

Colin, Still only listing 'alphabetically by company name' available for watchlists and scan results - it would be great to have the option to have the lists arranged 'alphabetically by CODE'. Tyche

I had to log out of my machine today so I had to shut down IC 5. I logged back in and started IC. It updated to 5.0.0.10 and then came up with the usual default DOW chart. It then froze on me when I tried to type in another ticker symbol. It happened a couple of times. I then restarted IC and brought up task manager and see what happens if I do nothing. IC freezes even if you don't interact with it after the start.

I "fixed" it. Here is the problem. I run a network of 8 computers. I got a couple of Linux boxes running the back-end and desktop Windows XP Professional boxes using Samba. All users run as unprivileged users to prevent security problems. Unfortunately IC doesn't have a clue about networked computers, multiple users, and privileged versus unprivileged users. IC assumes there is only one user to use the software and that this one has admin rights and was the one which installed the software. IC was installed using admin. Hence the IC user ID I have for IC is linked to the admin account on this specific machine. Another user cannot use the software because IC rights can't be transferred to another user even if this user had admin rights. I tried this a few times 18 months ago when I started with IC. Every time I started IC as another user it kept re-assigning me new IC user IDs instead of using the one that was saved on disc. I was forced to run IC using the "right-click app -> run as admin" option. When I restarted IC it started upgrading IC and even though this should have been as admin (though logged in as normal user) it must not have liked it. I had to log out as normal user, log back in as admin, start IC, log out as admin, log in as normal user, restart using admin option under normal user.

Colin Previously I went from looking at charts into the chart forum by clicking on Help / Chart Forum. This access now seems to have been deleted and I now have to fiddle around, get back to the Home page and then go into Chart Forum. Was this a deliberate or accidental change and is there a plan to have direct access to the Chart Forum from viewing Charts brought back or have I missed something. Regards....macka..

FWIW the latest release works a charm (Build 5.0.0.10): I still got to work out some of the new icons (must be some instructions in the help menu). Congratulations and looking forward to the other modules when available. Mark

Hi Colin In a earlier post you said: "There are always going to be more requests than we can handle, but we do like to hear from members. Some requests are quite simple to add make big improvements in usability. Perhaps we should ask premium members to vote on what they see as our next development priority." What are the requests that are simple to add? Many Thanks .... Visions}

Hi Colin Yes, many thanks also for quick reinstatement of the Chart Forum link to the Help menu. I've noticed that in most of my watchlists when I right click on the blue down button to select a stock, I get a long list of stocks to choose from and it takes a while to scroll down to find the ones I want. Is there a way of me fixing this back to the other way where it used to be broken up in sections alphabetically, with about 40 stocks in each section or does this need to be fixed from your end? Cheers .... Visions

Visions, I should really let the development team answer your question (post #33), but I can give you a broad idea. In order of complexity: Watchlist improvements (bulk editing, printing, etc.) New Stock Screen filters Indicators Keltner/ATR bands/Chandelier Exits Market Indicators (e.g Advance-Decline) Captions (e.g. arrows) Text Boxes Darvas boxes Drawing Tools (e.g. trendline options) VWAP Display of Dividends & Dilutions Other Chart Types (e.g. Swing, Kagi, Three-Line Break) Andrews Pitchfork Fibonacci Tools (multiple lines treated as a single object) This isn't a complete list but will give you some idea. Datafeeds are probably the most complex of all, but we view them as completely separate from development of the charting application. We have one senior programmer, Kim, dedicated to just developing new datafeeds. Regards, Colin

Colin Your Post 649 …… Monday, September 08, 2003: ….. To Mosaic "The most commonly requested changes are to the Stock Screens, so we will tackle that first. At some stage we will conduct a survey in order to establish a few priorities in the development plan - this is another item on the To Do list. We have one overriding criterion for any changes: Ease of Use! We want to avoid unnecessary complication." Well,I assume that the Stock Screen Filters are still the most requested area, are they? If that's the case and it's on the easier end of the list for the development team, lets get them cracking onto it today. I would image the watchlist improvements would go hand in hand with the Screening and that is on the easier end of the list also. So I'm all for the Watchlist and Stock Screening. The 2 most easy and most common requested area's, that's being fair to the Development Team and also the majority of I/C Members. I'm fully aware that there is a lot of requests in other areas, that have been in there for a long long time, but we have to start somewhere. I also agree with your 'Ease of Use' It makes sense. Cheers .... Visions

From the Honest Feedback thread: I have been promising to survey premium members about their requirements (what they feel our development priorities should be). There is a lot that we want to do, but it will take time to complete -- so the best way of establishing priorities is to put it to a vote. Regards, Colin

Hi Colin How are we progressing in regards to the surveying of all premium members about their requirements? Is it still going to a vote and when is this going to happen? Will we be emailed a data sheet to fill in to email back to you or how do you plan to get this up and rolling and implemented as soon as possible? Regards Visions

Visions, We have implemented the technology. It is now a matter of me completing the survey questions/options which should take no more than a few days. The survey will be targeted at premium members only and will canvass what additional tools and features they would like to see. Please understand that we cannot meet all requests and that some will take a great deal development time, while others may require less effort. Also, some features may best be developed as a group rather than piecemeal, but responses will help us to order our development priorities. Regards, Colin

Hi Colin Thanks for the reply and it's good to hear that we are still moving forward in this area. Looking forward to the survey getting underway and results gathered to start things steamrolling along. Yes I do understand all wishes can't be granted or may take longer because of the complexity involved but as long as members can see maybe the list of things being worked on and the order of implementation and time frame,it would ease lots of members frustrations. If I want to put in a request for something in the future I can simply look up the progress of things being done at the moment and realise it would be, say, at least next year before they caught up with all the things on the list before attending to my new wish, and so be it. I think it would be better than saying yes we are doing that in the next couple of months and then it doesn't seem to happen sometimes for years. In my experience with customers if I keep in touch with them and kept them fully informed about progress or delays, as long as they knew completely what was happening, why and when, they understood and were more at ease and at the same time if they were peeved off, I would know straight away before they took their custom somewhere else. I'm trying to be helpful, positive and constructive here Colin so please don't think I'm throwing rubbish or not being respectful. Kind Regards .... Visions
