Hi, Has anyone read "Technical Analysis of the Stock Trends" by Edwards & McGee ? Someone strongly recommended it to me. Unfortunately, after checking in a bookstore,it turned out that it costs almost 230 AUD. Is it worth to pay so much for this book? Please advice. Regards, Andy

Andy - you could always ask your local library to obtain it for you. Have you looked at the other books recommended through the forum, or is this particular publication a "hot tip"?

Shonky - I have tried to get it from my local libary but I was told that it is not available for the borrowing. Maybe, because of the cost. The book has been strongly recommended as a 'bilble' in the last edition of the 'Shares' magazine. That's the reason why I am asking for the second oppinion. Andy

andy - i've seen a few $200+ range books in one particular store in my town. the ones with 'technical' in the title are just that. they look fantastic, and they may well produce the goods, but i can't justify them to myself at this point. i'd honestly need a decent mainframe and money to throw at a computer programmer to load the mathematics into anything i could look at. if you've seen a hardcopy of the book, then only you can decide if it's worth the reddies. (depends on how you like to 'treat' yourself). i probably would, if i was living comfortably off my stockmarket returns. i guess the other question is - do you have a reasonable library of 6-8 $35 books which will cover most scenarios you're ever likely to come up against? it's the same money, and probably a better investment as stage 1.

Andy --Read that book 30 years ago and it is the 'bible' of T/A in my view.--However another book that is many ways better is 'How to make money in stocks' by William J O'Neil--best to you --john---PS Costs a lot less too.

Thank you for all your responces. It seems to me that I have to clarify one thing. I already have pretty good libary including admired Weinstein,Edler,Guppy and Nison's books on different subjects of trading. At the moment I am looking for a more professional stuff. Regards, Andy

andy - ah - i misread your earlier probing. if you mean - has anybody gained by spending 230 on that book - sorry - can't help you on that side. although interested for future reference. shonky - i'd appreciate it if you could autograph my recently hung acquisition now curating between the wedding photos and divorce papers.

lepe - note the lower case l. Listen to this as a sterling example of profiteering. My watchdog will be a TAX DEDUCTION! Did you overdose on J.P.Donleavy during your earlier years?

shonky - sorry - i have problems with upper case. i can never remember which button i'm supposed to press. i'm so happy that your watchdog will be good for something. what is donleavy? i don't remember my doctor ever doing a script, and i don't remember getting it off my dealer. has it got something to do with yeast? is it good? can you still get it? (try getting mandrax these days - phew! impossible).

Donleavy wrote The Beastly Beatitudes Of Balthazar B., among other works. He was of impoverished Irish nobility, or thought he was.
