Essential reading for anyone interested in short-term trading. The book balances the technical approach with the psychological requirements for successful trading - how to control your emotions. There is a lot of useful information on how to use the major indicators for best results. Then (which many books fail to do) Dr Elder neatly draws it all together with his Triple Screen Trading System - discussed elsewhere on this forum. A good investment. Colin

I was going to buy this book but Elder has a newer volume out, I'm wondering which to get hold of, since I can't find much info on the newer one (called "Come into my Trading Room"). Anyone read the newer one (or both)? Which do you recommend?

The newer book is a poor substitute for the first. If you are to buy one, buy Trading for a Living and the workbook.

This book is about as cool as it gets. I love Weinstein but, this book really struck a chord with me. You gotta love the no nonsense style, he gets right down to it. He's a shrink who trades, the ultimate combination, because, if you haven't figured it out yet, that trading career that you are chasing, is between your ears! Expensive book, worth it though, borrow a mates copy, but I guarantee you will want your own! I used to read a chapter at a time in the bookstore, when I had finished the book I bought it, even though I could not afford it. It's been one of my prized possessions ever since, and no, you can't borrow mine! http://www.moneybags.com.au/default.asp?d=0&t=1&id=630&c=0&a=27
