Very interesting. Curious to see whether or not he gets his bail. Will he put a book out now on how to beat the taxman?

I thought he earned his credibility by trading live in front of audience, but The Australian article seems to suggest he cheated in the trading competitions.

Williams refused to talk to reporters outside the court, but seminar organiser David Hunt said cancelled events had cost them $150,000 in lost revenue. http://www.smh.com.au/news/business/market-guru-banned-from-bondi-beach/2006/05/ 29/1148754918295.html

If he were as good a trader as he says he is then why is he doing seminars around the world instead of actually trading? Don't tell me he is doing it to "give something back" to trading wannabes, if that were the case he wouldn't be charging people in the hundreds for a "intro seminar" and enticing participants to spend hundreds more on "closed shop" software. Fact is he can make sure $ by talking, much easier than trading. I don't believe he is an entirely honest man, but I do believe he is entirely human. And a great public speaker to be sure, and a very likable personality, but ... To his credit, at the seminar I attended he did have the Aussie$ set up as a buy using his spreading indicators, at that time the A$ was just under .50c US.

In defence of Larry Williams, he is one of the few market gurus that quantifies his systems. At the same time he doesn't preach the immortality of his systems. I do not believe Larry cheated in the Robbins trading Championships. I do know that he has been subjected to critism, perhaps due to his rather negative views on classic TA. If you want to understand how a small amount of money can be turned into a large amount by embracing risk. Larry's work is worth studying. Cheers Laffee
