I have been doing some research into volume trading. I am interested in software that specifically looks for volume movement in stock that is being bought the most. This would be, trading software that tracks buying volume only. If one could get the trader at home closer to the stock market floor allowing the user to see first hand what stock is currently being bought, then this would give the trader direct access to the start of new trends. As with Buffett whom started buying Coke stock, only the stock broker on the floor caught wind of his activities, thus he was able to follow the trend of a true professional and started buying Coke stock as well. I have looked at "RealTick" software by Townsend Analytics. This firm is a market leader in the financial services industry of software development. I am interested if anyone is currently using a volume trading system? Is it working for them? And what software are they using to assist their scanning of the market? Thanks

Cowboy There is a Book on this subject (Volume Spread Analysis) called "Master the Markets " $us100 which pretty well explains the signals generated by the VSA charting package called " TradeGuider" around $us1000. Nick Randges service " The Chartist" offered a free PDF copy of the book upon joining $au55 a month . The "Traders Laboratory " forum site has a excellent ongoing and upto date THREAD on the subject -- if you have TradeStation this thread contains the Formulas to be able to use it as a TradeGuider substitute . But as pointed out in this thread , once you understand the book the Software is only a crutch. Hope the above is of some help Cheers

The book Float Analysis: Powerful Technical Indicators Using Price and Volume by Steve Woods comes to mind. The software recommended for performing float analysis is called FloatCharts, although I'm not sure if they cover the Oz market. More info below. http://www.floatanalysis.com/ http://www.floatcharts.com/FloatCharts/index.htm Regards

From my short experience in this life long search for excellence "VoLume" is simply a Catch 22 IE" Meaningless Just Because One holder wishes to swap with another at the same price is meaningless Just because 1000 holders do the same is also meaningless Who is the better seaman? The One who bought or the One who sold? Some volume indicators would put the result on the "One Silly Close" Salute and Gods speed
PS With this knowledge I threw all my Volume indicators overboard years ago I found They never work at tops and they never work at bottoms Just because this simple form of Data is readily available to everyone for free does not make it for me Give me the OPEN INTEREST and then let's start talking Volume Until then I suggest to steer clear of all Volume Indicators and learn to Multiply Price*Volume = $Value
