Hilarius - happy to provide my thoughts but need to understand what exactly you mean by "harder".

Are you referring to ease/difficulty in

- making a profit (most likely)
- executing a trade (technical issues)
- finding a counterparty with whom to trade at your preferred price (liquidity)
- obtaining data for analysis
- ???

Regards
Dean

Dean

Making a profit ... including the selection of best entry/turning points

Also are there any psychological issues in each of the three cases?

ie different psychology in the case of index trading?

How much should one be prepared to "give back" before recognising one his misinterpreted a trend?

Is this last point different in the case of index trading?

this the ultimate conundrum imo , if for instance u say "ok im going to set a stop loss of 10 pts" if u set less than that often u will get stopped out , then what do u know .. it promptly turns around. I could go on and on but would not seem to make sense. paper trading works a treat ... put $$ onit and whamo ... cheers Qed

QED

I totally agree with you ... I fail to see why the after hours spread has to be any different to trading hours

8 points is excessive ... I've seen no statement from them explaining it

I guess they feel they own no explanation to anyone?

At this time I try the UK100 and SPX 500

They get very volatile around US opening time so I avoid that time and after that its sleepy time down south below the equator

As you say getting harder and harder ...

Hilarius

Ahoy Officer Maximus Booster

BAD QUESTION!!!

BAD! BAD! BAD!

The better question is to ask yourself

"Who do you prefer to sail against?"

Once you work that out?
YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY!

Salute and Gods' Speed

PS This Captain does not play chess against World class Chess Champions or even Russian Chess champions for that matter

"EGO is Everything" and One must always protect ones EGO

If you ever lose that
"You'll find yourself sailing down shit creek without a paddle"

ie: Waisting good time Chit-Chating on financial sites on such subjects as Religion and the Virtues of the poems of Virgil

How Silly is That?

Good Evening Captain,
I dont like the market makers and dont see the attraction. The talk of spreads and worries about stops and similar complaints when trading indexes seems to be too much hassel. I'd rather pay the brokerage and use futures. I have never had a concern with stops or spreads because the S&P market is very liquid. Just my opinion mind you.
cheers

H .. they are "protecting" their books ... just like the bookies they are ... "looks like we could lose a bit here we better shorten the odds " IF they are so so concerned maybe things are worse than they even appear to the herd ... "quod ERAT demonstratum"
