bought some ELK yesterday and today in anticipation of news re CO2 drilling for Oil.
recent bounce from 60's quick smart,volume etc "encouraged" me to hope for a Significant Increase on previous High may be about to happen.

instos = institutions = any entity with the power to make prices do what they would like them to do. quite easy for the instos to manipulate the cheapies. very difficult/impossible with the BHPs.
research "pump and dump" - instos do it all the time on the cheapies - they will wipe you out if u r on the wrong side of the trade when they get involved with the cheapie. if they buy after u they help u, then you've just got to sell before they do.
i am just watching CDS. this morning i held a position for just 2.5 mins, closed at a small profit once i realised what the instos were up to.
now look at the CDS 1 min chart. the instos started their sell off at 10.30am (lasted just a couple of mins), since then its been down hill for CDS. perhaps this arvo or tomorrow CDS might go forward but only if the instos dont mess with it.
good luck with ELK. myself, i prefer to wait for the news release, so i'll keep an eye on it.

have u been taking any interest in news trading?
if yes, have there been any tradable ones? they are rare, about 1 every 6 weeks on av.
i myself have been giving most of my attention to index trading "study" - its proving to be a challenge, but i think i will be able to work it out.

no pse,I don't even have a Live News link,only my brokers'.
All a bit too "nervy" action for an old goat.I like to go for at least a week preferably a month.
I am in ELK in "anticipation" of News but I'm a bit distracted at the moment,too many angles/ploys are occuring to me that distract from my "Pure" trading plan/scheme.
See pse that you're going to give FA a whirl.Assume that's cfd geared for you? Short Term/day Trading based on FA is a bit of a leap.not very compatible IMHO,However FA backing for a 3/6 month Hold Intention can work but I can't begin to tell you how'n'what,I'll leave that to d'Millionaires,you'll trust their "advice" more than mine.

a couple of "fundamental plodders" ticking along in the back ground would be nice. i'll pick some up if we get a nice correction - which i'm hoping for - it will give me a bit more courage for the typical high pulse stuff.
u poor bugger, ELK's, what is it in tech terms?, equilateral triangle, they have equal chance of going up or dn. what were u thinking??
but ELKs day bar right now, suggests a reversal is coming, but only if it holds and the US is on your side.

I hope someone out there got onto KAL today!! In fact it may even have something left in it?????????????????
Why didnt i mention KAL earlier Captain!?
I must concede news is not my focus at present, trading the XJO is. And u no doubt will be gob-smacked once again, (and doubt-ridden) to hear me say it is even more profitable than news trading.
But, still learning. One day i will post a thorough synopsis.

Now tut tut pse.you're not being all cocky cos ya day trading are you? "Dissing"/disparaging my ELK ploy cos YOU only see a 50% probability?
My probabilities run higher because I figure from Depth Watching that the Money Flow is BUYING + It's buying in a Limited Listed Total Shares Stock= IF good news limited Supply will Meet Excess Demand so I'll get a Bigger Chop on my Own Capital Played.
not for me to dig up only tiny percent gains magnified by leverage by Index or for that matter FA approved Blue Chips over the Long Term!!

c'mon dug, dont be insulted.
ELK - that's just my view - i hope it goes well for "you" - myself i avoid 50/50 trades like the plague = unsustainable trading for my trading style!
the competition conflicts with my trading philosophy - namely, "trade what is, not what might be".
i rely on market depth, momentum, liquidity and a healthy intraday 1 min chart before trading - the comp. denies that.
PS i cant see u withdrawing your protection, u cant resist an opportunity to take a swipe at the captain.

I'm running on ~$50k built in the last 3mths on $30k capital.
overweigt w/- 21k DYE and currently with $14k Cash.
other holdings PHK 15k# and ELK 8k#.
It's real beneficial to know the Rank of who ya playing with.

we used to have a member here who not only was a Millionaire Melbourne Southerner but a POM!

it was all a bit,you know pse,uncouth.
