Did an IC Search using just 90-100% in the Engine "douver lacky" about 1 year Price. Got 600 SIX Hundred Results!! but they seemed to be All/Mostly of Ceased Trading Bleeding Shares.Like Sons of Gwalia was still there!! Included because it hadn't Traded for A Year or More so naturally was at it's 100% Price!! Geezus IC should institute DATA CLEANING Immediately!! Anyhow,I dropped it to 80-100% and added a 200k# Filter and got 18 Eighteen Results.Much more Manageable and I came up with HEG Hill End Gold as a hindsight illustration of Method. Back Scrolled/Dated Chart.
So in this, one sees the Momentum Signal previously discussed in $25grand Trading this Systems Topic. It [d'Big Candle] was triggered by an Announcement 15/10 of some High Grade Gold Find. The Orange Lines Indicate the previous and current[then/October] Year's High. When HEG first floated about 4/5 years ago there was THEN a Higher High, but as this is a Speccie, one could Ignore the Distant Past and assume an All Time High criteria being 1/2 years. I reckon the subsequent days pattern til 30/10 gives one plenty of opportunity to apply an Entry Criteria to. Subsequent Post 30/10 til Yesterday CHART ACTION.
So 31/10 HEG answered a Speeding Ticket Query with the standard "We don't know Why it's Rocketed,ASX" in the Morning and then in the last Hour put out a Cash Flow and Activities Quarterly Report. The most significant thing I saw in a Glance was HEG had $14million in the Bank ie wouldn't be doing a Placement any time soon? December and January had Presentations/More gold glowing drilling/and perhaps most significantly HEG commissioned a Gravity Gold Recovery Plant in place for Actually Generating CASH FLOW real soon ergo Might have spent a chunk of their $14 mil but BUT still may not need one of those Discounted Sophisticated Placement Deals to "cruel" d'Pitch. So there's an example of Using Year Highs to get one onto a Chance/Goer. Please Note that the HIGH Signal was given earlier but didn't Pan Out. Also the Gold Sector has attracted a Lot of Fly by Night Pilgrims who've been to too many Economics Classes but didn't Pay Attention! They only got Gold Fever by reading Professor's Treistes[?] or agreeing with Gun Toting Ratbag Survivalists!! Anyway,Gold is the current Sentiment Booster Sector so ya may as well have a Diddle!! Happy Trading.

Dug, a useful post but you are beginning to sound like nutz ~ dug wrote on Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 12:17 pm:Like Sons of Gwalia was still there!! Included because it hadn't Traded for A Year or More so naturally was at it's 100% Price!! Geezus IC should institute DATA CLEANING Immediately!!
remember we live in a real world and not some fake nervana (most of the data available to business are not useful at the data item level eg Financial Transaction codes may keep the accountant happy but at a business unit level 'buckets of money' and not the minute details are sufficient; and so some level of slackness in the data warehouse is to be expected)~ I think you once told me to LIGHTEN UP! please. Nevertheless colin, dug's argument to remove shares that are no longer trading has some merit... I have a soft spot for this area ~ spent 5 years in the greater west visiting places like leadville, nevertire, comebychance, ivanhoe etc.; and the amount of gold to be recovered from Hill End, Bathurst/Mudgee must be staggering. In-fact the mineral rich rocks streach from Captains flat (near canberra) to Broken Hill, and I guess much wider ~ just their depth varies... The weekly chart below shows a wonderful breakout and retest occurring ~ if HEG gets to 25c then I guess it will be a buy
Happy trading DYOR

Tryhay, If it gets back to 25,it's an AVOID not a Buy. See one more Reason to pay attention to HEG in particular is the Relative Lack of VOLUME in making it's New All Time High AND Staying There. This has ~200mil shares on Issue[could be wrong but that's my calc] Anyhow see how on my Momentum Day 10milish turned over? How subsequently the Volume was not all that Big? Doesn't that indicate that the Long Term Holders aren't particular Flash in d'Pan?Like BarBque types? That BIG Holders are holding for more Gain? This is a Short Cut thru FA,tryhay.Substantial Holders are not DITCHING on a 100%+ gain even in these Troubled Times. Rather than applying ya FIBbing, freaking Vegie Maths System, tryhay. Dig a Channel!!
Now I know it's not Text Book Kosher BUT I reckon you can discount the Panic of last week chiefly as caused by the Bleeding French dumping all those positions so just draw a line thru those days. Of course we're all being warned it's not over yet so Simply ya want HEG to stay within that Channel. You certainly don't want to go I'll put in a 25 bid,see if I score cos ya'd be bailing in on a Collapse.A wiping out of the scenario/story Falling. Anyhow,Check the Twiggs KAL and HEG.See the Charts. How Many/How Much in Loss desperate to get an EXIT with Dignity.Look at the PERCENTS of LOSS not some artifical petals on Flowers Age Old Wisdom. cheers.

I think dug hit the nail on the head with data cleansing. I like it that IC keeps old share data around but the screener should have the option to filter out dead shares (e.g. checkbox to exempt shares which showed more than five O=H=L=C in the last 200 days). It isn't rocket-science.

) Now ohk,you may have just devised this formula off the top of ya head, but it illustrates to me one of the Big Problems with Computer Boffins doing Share Trading Software. I reckon they [boffins] apply their skills without much Real World Experience of the Market. For example that Formula would eliminate Extended Trading Halt shares, even shares that had 2/3 Trading Halts in a given 200 day period. Of particular interest it would eliminate shares that came under New Management and set up New Direction/Business. The Back Door Listed pennies that are sometimes righteously condemned for stopping and starting from cold to hot sectors[eg bio's into uranium] but also include some that are real potential goers, been taken over by New Gun Directors and simply are saving money by rejigging a failed company by buying it's Listing rather than meeting all the expense of an IPO. So in the same way that ShareHolder Option/Company ReOrganisations are pretty instantly reflected in the IC programme,I reckon shares Suspended/Subject to TakeOver offers etc should in some way be HighLighted in the Search Engine,Flagged in some way. It'd also be beneficial if the Securities "bit" be divided into shares and seperated from Rights/Options,or maybe and/or instead of the current all included. ohk,we had an absolute Whizz here awhile ago.David Louisson,he was a Computer Programmer.Could explain the Uses of any and all Indicators but after a year,he too had just broken even and retired from the Market.Seems to me,you're a second "strike" against Boffins who think that Computer Knowledge is some extreme edge. ohk,a bit of FA in the mix.A bit of "street smarts" could take you somewhere.and after that "leasing" plot you came up with recently? ohk ya gotta get OUT more. cheers and regards.

It was just an example. I did think of trading halts but couldn't be bothered to write an exemption. The fact that you mention it means you think like a "programmer" and are considering all options and how to deal with them. You could differentiate between OHLC with volume 0 and OHLC with volume > 0 as well as OHLC at price level X consecutively (trading halt) and OHLC at price level X, Y, Z consecutively. Considering that the ASX knows when a stock is in a halt you would figure this parameter would be one they keep track of separately and distribute much like OHLC and volume. tick charting would eliminate a lot of the problems (like trading halts) with time-based charts. It's all a mood point since my faith in TA becomes weaker and weaker by the day. (Message edited by ohkoolnutz on January 28, 2008)

dug. Sir, I refer to recent post, I do not wish to sound condescending or critical but are you truly illiterate or do you have trouble expressing yourself in plain English? [edit] Sir your use of OUR language is disgusting and offensive and I fail to see what anyone can gain from your gibberish. The successful traders that I have gained useful insight from are all able to string together a comprehensible sentence. Why can't you? (Message edited by colin_twiggs on January 31, 2008)
