There is also economic news coming out of US tonight on USD.

In regards to trading time, for me the best time to trade is from 4.00-4.300pm to 8.30pm, I have a break from 8.30pm to 11.00pm and start trading again from 11.00pm to 3.30am.
Time can change in regards to “Day Time Savings”.

My personal observation is that we are living in the best time zone for trading forex.

Dreams do not vanish, so long as people do not abandon them.

Luck is the time when preparation and opportunity meet.

Note: This represent my individual opinion, therefore individuals should formulate their own trading decisions or seek professional advice to minimize risk to their investment portfolios.

5 pips from getting my entry. The trade would have lasted 10 minutes to reach my objective.

Cheers Lafee

Captain,

Yes it is all about waiting. Daytraders should do more waiting and less trading! I may not get in on this trade but there will be plenty more. The advantage is a high strike rate - 88% on this particular trade over the past 3 years on hourly data.

When you redo your setup you may find it fun to sail with me!

Msparks,

Yes, it is kind of relief to only have to analyse 5-6 crosses. But it is always good to remember that the more markets you trade the more picky you can be. It is very easy to fall into the trap of overtrading which I guess is what the FX brokers are hoping for.

Cheers

Maxboost,

Statistically, it is more likely than not the the EURUSD has made its high for the year (see my previous post). One could assume that if the EURUSD has topped out the AUD will likely follow. However, the 80c mark looks soooooo inviting and we are sooooo close. I would not be surprised if the AUDUSD spikes up to 80c before reversing.

Cheers

MARKETS UPDATE DOLLAR CREDIT NOON
SYDNEY, Feb 16 AAP

The Australian dollar was marginally higher at noon with little movement in the morning session as traders await more direction from the US market tonight.

At 1200 AEDT, the domestic unit was at $US0.7839/44, slightly up from yesterday's close of 0.7837/43.

During the morning, the local currency traded at a low of $US0.7832 and a high of 0.7847.

Macquarie Bank currency strategist Jo Masters said it had been a quiet morning of trade amid a number of competing forces.

"The US dollar has been weaker overnight, which has given the Aussie the ability to rally," Ms Masters said.

"But that ability has been capped by Aussie-yen selling."
She said yen support was rising ahead of the Bank of Japan's interest rate decision next week following yesterday's strong gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

"The futures markets have priced in just over a 50 per cent chance of a rate hike, so it's fairly up in the air and there's people with very divergent views," she said.

Also keeping the Australian dollar fairly steady was a drop in liquidity ahead of the President's Day long weekend in the US and Chinese New Year, which starts this Sunday, Ms Masters said.

However, US data due tonight, including producer prices and housing starts, will be of interest to the market, which is looking for signs the US economy is not as weak as recent data suggests.

"Any weaker-than-expected number is going to reinforce that US dollar weakness," she said.

"My guess is it is actually going to be a fairly quiet 24 hours."

She said the Australian dollar would likely trade within a $US0.7830 to 0.7860 range.

Thanks sea-cadet #54

I noticed you refered to your expert advice as a Ms
Hmmm?
No PHD or Letters after the "Ms" to give the good "Herself" some credibility for me?

What's the big deal in being refered to as a "Ms" in financial circles, anyway?

Salute and Cheers

Yeah - rankles with me too!

In my day (only yesterday that was!) females were either Mrs or Miss.

Perhaps the lady is unable to find a man, or a man who thinks enough of her to make her a Mrs? Maybe she has other preferences?

Maybe prefers to keep her status anonymous?

I would think NO prefix would ensure anonymity, whereas MS raises questions ... and eyebrows. (Am I joking?...)

Maybe best not to go there ... there are some polarised views on that!

Now - some interesting links to add to your favourites list ...

Sorry about going off topic.

To bring it back - I have made good on the USD/JPY. Currently moving in the LONG direction, but I expect we will a return to SHORT when the sun comes up over the Atlantic ocean. I am still holding - short!

I expect 118 to be touched overnight.
