I enjoy seeing the US charts that you and Hershy post. I was thinking that this setup in ERC would have to be your signature entry, OKN. The stock is in an up trend, retracement, followed by period of consolidation with a well defined resistance level.

I like your consistency, patience and I am pleased to see you taking some of your well earned profits in balancing your portfolio.

I had to fight myself so much to take those profits. I think the stocks will go higher but the most profitable positions tend to have the longest consolidations before the next upswing and it appears they can actually stunt your growth?!?

If you bought PDN at 4 cents you'd kick yourself if you had ever sold.

Timeframe puts everything into perspective I suppose. The flip side of the coin is that PDN is most likely the exception and not the norm. Is one better off building a trading system around the norm or the exception?

I don't think I will be posting charts much longer because nobody reads the US section and nobody cares about the long-term section. My method is boring. It's a bit like tooting your own horn anyway and I can easily admit I am not the best trader with the best results. It's a bit unsatisfying because I have one method to trade but I don't have a repertoire like others. I have two more methods in mind to perfect that have been working for me on occasion. I might work on those over the next year.

ohk

I am absolutely fascinated by the long term section

The real winners ought to be posted there

Who really cares about the short term day tripper rubbish?

With Best Wishes

Hi O Cool One
quote
"I don't think I will be posting charts much longer because nobody reads the US section and nobody cares about the long-term section."

You are mistaken, i find your posts very interesting.
I am sure plenty of others enjoy the US section and long term trades also.

What broker do you use to trade US ?
The ozy brokers seem expensive but i heard the US brokers are very inexpensive.
How has the dollar fluctuations affected your results?

I use http://www.fidelity.com

I don't compare my US funds to the AU funds. It's money I left there before I came to Australia. I don't care much about my return. I care more about executing my trades right.

Fidelity aren't cheaper than ETrade Australia by the quick glance but its all in the detail. They offer a lot more service and their cheap trades are easier to achieve and don't expire if you maintain 120+ trades in a rolling 365 day period.

My holding period tends to be weeks or months and the percentage gains in double-digit territory do take the focus away from brokerage costs.

Australian brokers have a lot to learn. The concept of rolling periods seems to totally elude the CEO of ETrade Australia. Wake up, moron! Somebody explain to me why I can't log into ETrade Australia and click on two check boxes which say:

[ ] "Don't mail me anything unless it's a payout notice!"
[ ] "Deposit my payout into my trading account so I don't have to give out my bank details to every company I bought stock in and I don't have to run to the bank every month to deposit a check."

Is it so difficult, Brett "I have no ideas how to improve the trading experience but still deserve my million dollar paycheck" Spork?

etree.com.au is a bandaid instead of a solution. More forms to fill out so we don't get the other forms. It's almost like a form of government to keep people employed. We have all this computer technology and they still treat trading like it's the 1970s. The paperwork waste going on in the Australian finance sector is pissing me off.

Why hasn't Alan Kohler pointed this out? A five year old could run this industry more efficiently than the guys who currently run ETrade, ASX, Link Market Services, ComputerShare, etree, the banks, etc... It's a tangled mess of incompetence costing us billions.

It's easy for them to say: "We are a green company" and then to proceed bombarding you with letters every single day which ironically ask you to send a letter back saying: "I don't want this %$#! mail." Human lunacy!

Gunns Limited is more green than this bunch of environment-annihilating $#&!.

I am not a greeny but inefficiency gets me riled up. I am about to blow a gasket.

Hello OHK

I agree with you totally

You say you are about to blow a gasket

I think you just did :-)

Next time would you try to say what you really think?

Try to be a little more outspoken :-)

With Best Wishes

Hilarius

OHK,
We all have to blow off steam sometimes. Just stick to the $##%!$^&%!! to save offending others.
