A monster day that closed the gap.........sort of. Left an open window wide enough to drive a truck trough. That will be one powerful vacuum that i expect will suck the prices back down..

hershy- I beg to differ. Using Fib. ratios and %'s, I read a continuing upside movement for at least 6-8 weeks. Small and Midcaps will lead the assault, but all markets and most sectors will enjoy the ride. }

G'day Flash, Nice to see another poster on the US threads. Disagree all you want, it is your right to do so but I still believe the gap will be closed. I did not before and do not now say that it will be closed right away but closed it will be - as has every other gap on the chart. This is a complex issue that relates to another thread, that of market makers. The second last gap, still remaining open was a move that isolated all those above the breakdown. Those holding prior to the break were faced with either selling and facing a quite unexpected loss or holding and praying for a return to previous price levels. Usually it is the latter that happens and these holders become sellers as soon as their prayers are answered. So what do "market makers" do to overcome this overhead supply should they be ready to move the prices higher ? The argument here is that there are so called market makers who by manipulating the minds of the other traders end up manipulating the market. Here is an opportunity for a quick profit so by gapping up the price ABOVE the levels of previous collapse they turn these probable sellers into gung ho supporters. The holders who before would have been happy to get their money back suddenly see an opportunity to make money so they hold or maybe even buy thus pushing up the prices. So MMs (market makers - if there are such entities) have another mind game to play. Can you see the possible inverted H & S pattern that may be evolving here ? I have drawn one but in fact there are two necklines that could be projected here, both in need of a right shoulder. Such a shoulder would necessitate the closing of the last gap. So Flash, tell me what would you do in the following case: You were holding prior to the second last gap. Suddenly the bottom falls out of your security and you are holding a large loss. You do not panic, you hold steadfast for a few days, weeks to see what develops and suddenly you see that prices have not only stabilised but you see that there is a good chance the gap will be closed and you could maybe, just maybe break even. Suddenly your wish comes true and the price is back where it was and in fact it is even higher. You are in profit. Not by much but you are actually ahead. This baby may yet go higher and do that which you were expecting it to do when you first went long. It may be a good opportunity to pyramid here and turn a loss into a really good profit so you buy more. Suddenly (this is just one possible scenario of many) over one or a a few days the price begins to fall, maybe just a one day pivot to just below $62. What do you do Flash, tell me, what do you do ? You dump everything. The MMs snap up the bargain of the century and within 2 days the H & S is formed and traders are buying again looking for the new target around $80. I may have just written the biggest load of garbage for the year but that is roughly what I expect.

Well the gap was closed and almost immediately, rejection of the lower zone has become evident.
Bit premature to call the start of a new bullish wave but there are encouraging candles on the cart, especially the weekly one. A move above $62.52 would be a good start.
