Mr Webmaster, what is the chance, or why isn't there, a NZ Stock forum on this site ? Comments for and against read with interest. Had a quick look and saw nothing in the archives on this subject so apologies if it has already been covered.

Barrel_scraper, Thanks for the suggestion - we have implemented it. Stocks - NZX is now available as a topic. Members need to update their profiles to receive emails of postings on this topic. Robin (Message edited by robin on January 11, 2004)

Robin, excellent idea, There are profits to be made-and losses to be avoided- on the NZX, and it is in our backyard. How can we load charts for New Zealand stocks.

Colin, I was thinking along the lines of... Open up IC, Go to Securities, Then find NZSX along with ASX, NYSE,AMEX, and Nasdaq, Then make up a watchlist from there. If one is investing from NZ then you might cut your teeth on the NZ market, before moving to the ASX and US markets. By putting NZ data on IC you may attract more NZ subscribers.

airedale Apologies. I still had my Forum cap on. Our existing data suppliers do not cover the NZX, but we will continue to pester them. Colin

Any views on BLT. Is it a potential blue sky biotech.Or will it muddle along with poor marketing until snapped up by somebody like Colgate. Currently coming off a post-rights issue low. Discl. Holding BLT.

What are good NZ companies ? I only know Telecom, Lion Nathan, Tower, Carter, Air NZ. Guess what, they are the ones you can buy in Australia. Any other good ones, suggestions please.

Thought I'd go through the NZX50 in alphabetical order - but the challenge of finding good companies was too easy,so stopped at "H" and then thought I'd throw in Mooring Systems Ltd for good measure. Also depends on what you call "good" companies.. I'm not sure if you are being cynical or making a genuine enquiry - I'd hazard a guess to suspect a bit of both - which is all good fun so I'll take the bait and rise to the challenge. Airedale has mentioned BLT - that company has a party faithful in NZ. You could take a look at CAV, DBB, FPA, HBY, HQP and MSL - as far as dual listed goes - correct me if I am wrong - but you should look at CEN and SKC also. Of course the market is a living entity and forever changing - I have mentioned but a few companies that have performed over the last one to three years... believe me - there are many more that look like they are going to bare their holders some fruit in the near future. As mentioned above , there is money to be made .. and lost in the NZX. Start digging and you just might find some gold - speaking of which - HGD could be a dark horse.

I think that debt collection hopeful RMG is also dual listed in NZ and AUS. Tower too,of course,Although not sure whether that is a NZ company or an Aussie one these days. In the liquor cabinet besides Lion Nathan, is cash cow and good dividend payer DB Group, but without reciprocal franking credits,it is possibly not so attractive in OZ. Air New Zealand and Fletcher Building also are dual listed.
