Hi Colin and Co..... I'll add another request to improve the stock screening facility and that is to include the category of:- Approved Short Sale Stocks to the "Indexes & Watchlists" drop down menu. If would be lovely to be able to scan these for "shorting" opportunities using any of the screening options that are in place at this point given our current "BEARISH" MKTS.}} Dolphin (Message edited by gdd3 on September 12, 2008)

Ahoy Officer Dolphin Approved shorts (in say Stocks) as I understand it are only approved if you find a broker who then finds an owner who is able and willing to lend you the paper for you to short This is not an easy task! I suggest you open up 4-5 brokers accounts and then do the hard yards over the phone to see if they have any shares they can short/lend you to short You could also suggest to the ASX to open a "Short" Exchange market where all the shareholders willing to lend their script to Bearish skippers do battle against the Bullish skippers I have rightly or wrongly assumed that most brokers offer the ability to short most of the top 200 but it wouldn't surprise me if this number drops to less than 30-50 at times depending on their individual clients' needs/oppinions If you look at the availability of "SHORT" warrants on the ASX you will see what I mean At least here you have a real market or market maker who owns the stock Salute and Gods' speed

Ahoy Admiral Col'n I do think that 1st Officer Dolphin makes a very good point Is there a way of Scanning for WARRANTS in this programme/IC? Is there a way of scanning for Bullish Warrants in IC? Is there a way of scanning for Bearish Warrants in IC? Is there a filter we can use to protect us against all the Old has-beens and could-have-beens? Salute and Gods' speed

C.C.....point taken re:- finding a broker who is prepared to "lend" you their stock to short. C.C. and C.T....However, what I was really looking for was, say the list that is used in our weekly comp. as a guide to which stocks you may short(if you can find a broker to borrow from), something similar to the "ASX Optionable Stocks" already available to us in the "Indexes & Watchlists" drop-down box under the Stock Screening facility. At least by having that we could do a "Screening test" and then, if we see a opportunity, go a "hunting" for a broker etc. Having said that, I also agree with your(C.C.'s) request for "scanning" for warrants....now that would be something. One solution that I'm aware of, but loath to mention, is to create a WATCHLIST(or number of them as there are probably about 200 stocks), myself and then use the existing facility to Scan...how laborious! Thanks Dolphin P.S. C.T. I look forward to reading sometime in the future of your result of "investigation"....but hope its not too long as the way this market is going we may not have too many "worthwhile" companies around to "short"....they're going down like 10-pins!
