Although probably not usefully as filter search indicators I have been working with these two for a while now and find them to be smack on the money when locating Enter Exit situations: Stochastic MFI & Stochastic RVI where Stoch MFI = money flow & Stoch RVI = relative volatility. I have both these indicators overlayed on each other (in another charting app) as they use the same indexes, and move in synchrony.

Sorry Spdfdh I don't know what came over me ? Maybe just a bit of sea-sickness at that time? I did not mean to be rude I merely challenged you to show us a sample chart since you said it has been done before Salute and Gods' speed

ey captain...twas the rolling deck blown by a force 7..and the rum once drunked, fierce religious compulsion, mixed and shaken that had yer blowing hard on the ol' foghorn. Yer not nik-named ol'Captain Blow'hard for nothing ey matey. Being a wind and ocean oriented sailor myself, when I hear the ol' foghorn blow I tend to take a safer tack...in the opposite direction. Alrighty, just to illustrate in more detail my preference for the MFI & RVI indicators, showing up trending & a down trending charts...and without going into a technical dissertation re. long and short, I'll leave it to your own judgement. And without having to throw any more PaintBars at the chart to illustrate Entry Exit timings for you. RVI: Dark Red = High Volatility & Dark Green = Low Volatility. MFI: Cyan = Rising Money flow & Magenta = Lowering Money flow So look at the MFI & RVI as they swing through the cycles, the MFi is the leading on the money indicator in most cycles and the RVI following an indication of volatility; high low rising falling. When MFI rises above the mid 50 line and then 80 line, and RVI is low there is a period to consider and take Entries, Also when the RVI is low and the MFI drops below the 50 line. Conversely when RVI is rising & above the 80 line and MFI is also but starts falling to below & crosses the 50 line signals an Exit period. When backed up by the other indicators like MACD and Slow Stochastic they combine to make a nice setup strategy. Keeping in mind there is no perfect indicator. The best way to see these indicators in action are to scroll back a cycle or two and scroll forward to watch the action unfold candle by candle.

If it's to large for IC then it maybe to large for an email too. But try it anyway otherwise you can either download "Infraview" a free photo edit program or use the photo program you have already installed on your PC, most will reduce the size for posting. If you haven't then infraview is the next best. Just simply install infraview click on the photo or open infraview go to tab file then open select the chart/photo from the file you have the file then go to image then resize select say 640x480 click ok then save rename the chart or photo to your selected file. Bingo Bobs your uncle ready to send. Hope this helps. I know it will. I'm no wiz kid either just one of the old farts. Try the following :- http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3000-2192_4-10021962.html?part=dl-IrfanView&s ubj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=10993915

Here goes... Good tip on IrfanView, D/L'd, installed and working! I'm beginning to think the captain is tormenting me with the request for an image...sheath that cutlass or there'll be mutiny on the upper decks! yep...and still no success! so these images are higher than they are wide? gee that would be nice to know on the image error screen. Sorry have to go now..spent over 2 hours now trying to post an image for the forum...but the oven is telling me my pizza is ready!...

Then there's something not quite right. I cannot imagine your chart would be anymore than a digital photo of 1.83mb which is way to large for some emails and postings, however if done the right way infranview will reduce an image of 1.83mb to just 60.4kb @ 640x480. How are you downloading your chart and what size is it ie: in mbs or kbs (memory)not size as far as dimensions I think IC only takes approx. 500kb. and that is plenty for most attachments. The old captain is a sly bugger just don't let him make you walk to the front bow on a NW. and watch the boom.

The image I'm posting is 105 KB and size is: Width 722 pixels X Height 675 pixels and 72 dpi .jpg! made fresh for you in IrfanView. I never before have had such trouble posting an attached image, and i do all sorts of stuff!...so show me I'm wrong and post one up lets see if you can do it. Huh! what sort of a sailer do you take me for..green off the docks? why? just because I can't post an image... I would actually thrill at the walk to the (front) Bow when tacking into the wind at last bell beyond sunset(Nor'Easter Eastern seaboard & Sou'Easter Western seaboard)...for there at the Bow, in the dark, wind blown sea spray...is where the captain's badges grow.

Well done sghfhtejhausyuqwd. Another way if you want to show detailed graphs is to put them into a PDF file. You can get a lot better quality that way and I don't think you'll have a file size problem. Regards Sway

Ha you must be on the rum to say it like that; "sghfhtejhausyuqwd"! after-all the keys are mostly in a row. Where you interested in the two indicators at all? I think they are great, and I dint see many Entry / Exit type Indicators in IC apart from the CCI. One pdf.sPdFgH coming up!

sPdFgH (that's better) I'll study up your post from Thursday and see if I can understand how it works. Are they daily candles? How long have you been testing/using the system? Cheers Sway

Yeh they are Daily candles, been using them since the ASX Trading Game started 16 Feb 09. I tried them on intra-day charts also, but due to the $60 trade fees its not easy to make winning intra-day trades. Best on Daily charts, haven't used them on weekly's yet. I like how they not only give good candle synchronisation, don't lag at all, Can signal entry / exit on both low and high volatility trades. I have watched them on intra-day 3 minute charts and was surprised at how close to the price action they were, although I'm still hopeless at intra-day trading. I don't see why they couldn't be useful to IC end of day charts. I do like the way they are can be overlaid in QT something IC cannot do (unless programmed to). They can both also use William's EMA option. (Message edited by sPdFgH on March 14, 2009)

Ahoy Able-Seaman with Many letters Thanks for your great attempt However That chart does not seem to work for me I only get the top left hand part of the chart Is it the binary addition of indicators that you refer to as in the Ribbon chart below? You are not Captain Robinson Crusoe when trying to post Barbarian Charts What do you think of the 70's with her magnificent rallies in the view of todays infatuation with Volatility In those days a Rally was a Rally and the one's who missed out were the FOOLS (Even if it was a 100% on Bear Rally) 100% Rallies are not unknown at Sea,ya know http://home.iprimus.com.au/ckirzner/dow/dow70.htm Crikey! It's really funny how Admiral Larry Summers himself refereed to 1966 last week as a major bottom And to add some spice Have a Good look at the rest of the 70's as a possible happy scenario to these horrible Late Naughties http://home.iprimus.com.au/ckirzner/dow/dow75.htm and http://home.iprimus.com.au/ckirzner/dow/dow80.htm Salute and Gods' speed

It was just the StochMFI & StochRVI that was the point of interest, just a bad image clip was all, the Adobe PDF file was an experiment badly done. I will get an AXO chart together soon, although I cant go back beyond 6 months with this charting. Not sure what the indicator posted in your chart image is? Doesn't look like the 'topic' StochMFI / StochRVI indicators. Do like your nautical themed images though. Thanks for highlighting the seventies, I will keep a watch for any emerging rocky outcrops.
