(1) Is it possible to incorporate the MA of the Open? and (2) have the MA line (for H,L,C and O) indicate what the MA price is?
Sometimes the actual stock price is very close to the MA but I can never tell from the chart if it is above or below a MA because I can't exactly tell what the MA price is. I hope thats clear.
And thanks for incorporating MA of H,L.

Forget part (2). I just noticed that the 'cursor' in the bottom left of the chart indicates the prices as you move the cursor....though it would not be bad to have it directly on the MA line.

Babui

Have never had a request for MA (Open) before. What purpose would this serve?

Regards
Colin

I heard that opening prices reflect what all the amateurs are doing (Mum's & Dads!), so a moving average of the open would show you where the amateur trend is....perhaps???

Davkell,

Not really, IMO. The private investors tend to react to the behavior of the market at the previous close - not the open.

Colin

Colin - a rather simple trading technique can be done with an MA(Open) and a MA(Close). Presumably, a stock is bullish if closing prices are higher than opening prices and bearish if closing is lower than open. Take a MA(O) and a MA(C) of any length for e.g a 16 day MA(O) and a 8 day MA(C). If MA(C) cuts the MA(O) from above, then its a bearish signal and if, from below, then a bullish signal.
[I believe I read the above in one of Larry Williams books but I'm not sure which one]

Thanks Babui,

MA (open) seems worth adding. I will add it to our To Do list.

Regards
Colin

Hi Colin

I was looking for this earlier today. It is used as a trading technique taught by Mark McRae. It seems to have been dormant on here for a while so I thought I'd put it up again

Cheers

Nick
