Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to have Incredible Charts actually store the price history on your PC, as this would allow you to look at charts without being connected to the internet. thanks PS - didn't mean to put that emoticon... sorry (Message edited by davek on May 23, 2005)

Hi all, I would really like to see incredible charts take advantage of allowing its paying customers the ability to be able to look at charts offline. I sat in my room today and thought about the comparisons of metastock and IC and I decided that I prefered IC however I could not get it because my system and work ethic relies on portability of data onto my laptop which I wont always be able to connect online in order to use. I hope that there are others who feel the same way as me in this issue. Kruupy

I guess that is why IC may be so cost effective. Free for delayed data and pretty damn cheap for hourly updates, and the software is still free. To make IC more like the 'others', may require a cost structure more like the 'others'! I understand though the desire for offline use. I'm a fortunate broadband user, and an unfortunate desktop computer only user, so IC works favorably for me. But, if offline use was made available at a similar cost structure to the current system, then it will only enhance what is a damn fine product.

Is this likely to be able to be implemented in the near future? I will soon be travelling for three months, and will be unable to use Incredible Charts during this period, without being able to use offline data. This will certainly affect my share trading plans during this time. There have been numerous requests on this issue, but I don't think we have received an "official" answer.

Stun, We are considering this as an additional feature, but it will take time to develop. We will introduce a survey to help members establish development priorities for the next year. There are a large number of requests and it is always difficult to establish priorities. Unfortunately, this will not help you while travelling. Will you have regular access to a dial-up connection? Regards, Colin

Colin, As you know, I have already put in my vote for this feature. But I'd like to vote again!! (Will that count as 2 votes??) Most of my access will be from my boat using Telstra's CDMA network! So the more offline work I can do the better. Regards, Starb'd

Colin, I will have limited access via wireless, perhaps more so if I can work out some way of using a dial up modem on my laptop, as I will be in very remote regions of WA for the bulk of the time.

Stun If the modem is the problem I think most laptops have a dial up modem built in. Just see if there's a phone line input connector. If not, just get an external dial up modem with preferably a USB connection, else use the com port (although if it hasn't a built in modem it probably wont have USB). If you know all this already please disregard this post. Only trying to help. Cheers

Stun, We are going to take a look at improving download speeds, but this will not enable you to work offline -- that is a further development. Regards, Colin

Hi Colin Being able to download historical adjusted data would be very useful for me also. Having this feature would allow users (I guess just the paying users) to develop their own scans, draw charts not offered in IC, keep records etc in Excel and so on. Recently I've implemented some of my own methods but have come up against the problems of using unadjusted data and really don't want to have to pay for adjusted data from a second source. And in the long run I think being able to download and manipulate data is needed for IC to be as flexible as its competitors. As to the implementation, I would have thought adding functionality to download data in a standard txt format would be quite easy - getting IC to work offline with the data would be more difficult. It's been a year since the last post on this topic. Could you offer this feature in 2 stages, first the download then offline upload? thanks MM

I too would be very interested in accessing my charts offline. Is this feature likely to be implemented in the near future?

Isaiah55, This was requested quite some time ago, but is still some way up the development list - it will require substantial changes to our charting platform. Regards, Colin
