Hi Colin, Generally speaking I think IncredibleCharts stock screening capabilities is the most powerful feature of the software. I think extending on current and creating new criteria will really help me as well as all screening users. It would be nice to have a feature which allows the users to define their own screening criteria (just like the Reuters knowledge database - knowledge.reuters.com). Not sure whether this has been covered in other threads, but this would make this great piece of software twice as powerful. Being a programmer myself I know this would be a hard task but should be well worth the effort. Also it would be good to have the % price movement screen be able to recognise between positive and negative movements. I put in 50% growth in a year and it sometimes returns poor stocks with -50% growth. I may be ignorant and have left something out but this is what I realised when I did a quick scan yesterday... Also can you put a moving average screen that screens for stocks above the certain moving averages, not just on a crossover? It would be also great to include screens for broker recommendations and screens for target prices (also similar to the above mentioned Reuters service). This also may be quite hard and I dont expect this to be accomodated for... Thanks! (Message edited by timbagarnett on January 05, 2007) (Message edited by timbagarnett on January 05, 2007)

I disagree. I stopped using the screener. I don't use indicators anyhow but trade based on price action. I feel more comfortable looking at a chart and recognising what is going on. The problem with the IC screener is the fact that every user wants a different feature and the list is getting longer and longer. Software like ProRealTime avoids this problem because all it implements is the screener interface and base functions. The user has the power and responsibility to do their own screen implementation. I do like IC though and pay for it. I am used to the chart and ugly colours and menu options by now. The investment is starting to pay off which helps ignoring the drawbacks. I think IC should bring on more end-of-day charts like LSE and XETRA(!) to get more customers which should bring more money to do more development. Then again IC may only be a tool with a goal of being cost-revenue neutral and there is no drive to turn it into a growth business.

OHK, I think we are in agreement on this. IC stock screens are pre-calculated and although they can be expanded can never match the range of a data-warehouse type approach where you can create your own filters. The difference is that the latter requires a lot more servers/programming. It is all a function of $$. Regards, Colin

Tim, We do plan to expand the range of stock screens -- when version 5.0 is completed (Fibonacci added). Regards, Colin

While I understand that some feel that more powerful stock screening is better found elsewhere, I still like the idea of an "integrated" package even with 3 screens. Secondly, the inability to copy or print your stock screen list is extremely limiting in my opinion.
