... in this forum. 1) make this forum a success and help Colin/Robin to make their business a success (I know, I know, I am doing a bit of polishing here) 2) sharing - share your thought, your view, your opinion, your charts, etc 3) learning - while you share, you learn because your writing helps you see and reason better, if you goof, others will tell you 4) making money - this is the bottom line and I know not many want to talk about his but then may be it's just me. May I suggest/propose a "minor" cultural change, please? Can you/I and everyone else show more willingness to disagree? I don't mean confrontation or direct personal attacks. I am talking about positive, constructive disagreement. I know sometimes it can get unpleasant but if you can make a distinction between "disagreement to your view" and "attacking you personally", you won't find it that hurtful. I know it is hard to do but it will help if you can separate the two. The benefits of having more diversified views and more active disagreements are: 1) you get to speak your mind freely; 2) any conclusion that arrives at would be more robust and probably more valid if it has gone through a vigorous debate and test; 3) you learn better from your mistake but first someone has to have the courage to point it out to you and you got to have the courage to take it graciously; 4) it is good for your ego, you learn to eat humble pie and learn about the virtue of humility; 5) it is good training for "thick skin" which compliments point 4; 6) you know others give a damn or pay attention to what you say/said, and it matters; 7) any other good points that I have missed. This is just a Sunday whinge so ignore it if you find it too "controversial". Here is a story... In a private forum I went to in the past, the whole group of investors were following a particular guru who had made some pretty good and decent judgement. For two years they were doing well. I mean everyone was a winner. Success naturally went to this guru's head and he got very little patience and tolerance for dissenting views. His reactions to every disagreement were either complete silence or brushing them aside. Overtime, in that forum there was only one view - his view, which was fine as long as he could keep his cool and did not make any serious mistake. But he didn't, and he failed - in the process I knew almost everyone who had been blindly following his advice lost some serious money. They lost more than they had gained in the prior two years. The moral of the story is this - consensus breeds mediocrity. In a highly competitive "sport" such as stock trading, you probably don't want/can't afford to be mediocre. It's only your money we are talking about. That's all. Cheers.

Or to put it another way, Bulls make money, Bears make money, Sheep get fleeced, Rabbits get skinned, Pigs get slaughtered, Dogs get kicked, Wombats eat roots shoots and leaves. And Cows either get worshipped, milked or roasted.

Haha... Very funny guys! Btw Chance, that was one fine summarisation I have read for a long time... My strength is not in making thing short, so I will attempt to expand your work into something that "makes sense". Bull bets with bear it can make money by fleecing the sheep Bear bets bull it can make money by skinning the rabbit Cow tells everyone it is to be worshipped and it will jump over the moon and at the same time teaches the pig to fly Dog tells cow to shuddup Wombat grouses, stares and doesn't give a damn, it is only interested in that Ironbark gum shoots ... in the end... the bull made its money... by fleecing the sheep the bear made its money... by skinning the rabbit Dog got kicked by the cow pig never learned to fly and was eventually slaughtered cow failed to jump over the moon, and got milked dry and then roasted wombat? Still doesn't give a damn and still trying hard at the Ironbark. The moral of the story? Never settle for something small if you can make it big. If it's a molehill, it should be blown up to be higher than the Dandenong. Big is better! Don't mess with the bull - look at the sheep losing its fleece; Don't mess with the bear or you'll lose your skin; Never "cowsh**" like the cow and attempt the impossible; Never try to fly - just look at the pig! Never tell others to shuddup or you'd get kicked. (my dog never learns) Never take on a tree if you can get the easy shrubs or grass, or you will still be trying like the wombat. ... end of story

G'day Dogalog, Thought I'd be more careful with my words - I was not referring to you and your mate oldwombat in my post. If I have given that impression, I am sorry. Never cross my mind to mean it that way. On guruship, I think I will give that a pass - not me cup of tea because it comes with responsibility. On Colin, I'd fess up to wanting to make some noise on their behalf because ever since the you-know-what, this place got a bit quiet. Once it is back to "good business" as before, I will tone down. I promise. Have a good day.

Yo cow dude, couldn't agree more. Generally this forum is pretty good, and most people understand that the way to the holy grail is to learn from others BUT develop your own way. But every now and then............... We have had evidence of it just recently. People should (and do) feel free to disagree with anyone who posts. If the logic is strong enough the original poster will be able to defend their position. Debate is good. Making personal comments is not! It should be the argument not the person that is being questioned. Question are good, ask lots of them. In the past we have had a few 'experts' stumble onto our forum. They have been quick to tell us how wonderful they are and how impeccable their logic is. A few well formed questions from regulars has exposed these people for what they are. Sometimes it takes quite a while to see these people for what they are, but, eventually we work it out. Keep asking those questions folks. Beliefs can be dangerous, but ideas are always open to new ways. spider.

Hi Spider, Good to have someone agreeing with me... but in a way this just contradicted the points we both agreed on, right? I read in another forum with someone saying "let's play the ball and not the player...", I thought that was apt. Cheers and have a good day.

See HC, there you go again, having the last word and a "have a good day to boot" Wot a noive. Seriously though, it's good to see you have a healthy sense of humour, I was wondering if I was gonna have to post that Animals song "I'm just a soul, whose intentions are good, Oh Lord please don't let me be misunderstood" but it wasn't needed. Onya. One other thing, HC, when you read Mr.D you've got to imagine the smiley faces in his posts....... Have a good day PS You're going to have to stop lurking on reefcap.

Chance, I don't care what others say - you got a big funny bone in you man! Have a good day in my context means "shake hands, howdy, pat on shoulder, peace, wave hands, bye bye and have a good time, enjoy". It also means "HAVE A GREAT DAY!" Now with Dr.D, he is one bloke that really spooks me because firstly I don't quite get his "slang", and secondly his hand signal is different from mine; thirdly, he uses codes. Now if this is not confusing, what is? I will take your advice to imagine his "smiley" next time, but tell me, when was the last time you saw a dog smile? Have good day! ps: I think there are some really smart people over there and love their views. (yeah, here is "have a good day" to them too!)

G'day Chance, I had a dog as a kid who would give you this real big smile. Wasn't a snarl it was a real honest to goodness smile. A real heart breaker she was. Got her from an animal shelter. Had her for years. A cute black mut. OW
