1) the selling of MTT was way overboard even after a 5.5c FF dividend was announced - that was how frenzy the selling had been - anyway, when cooler head returned the smart investors went back in and bought big as indicated by the much higher volume;

2) it "makes sense" to bet against the market in circumstance such as this... keep an eye for oversold stocks - I went in to CSL and COH almost in a similar fashion.

(NOTE: Accompanying alert corrected to show A$846 million reflects the value of Foodland's Australian business only)

SYDNEY, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Australian food and liquor wholesaler and retailer Metcash Trading Ltd. said early on Monday it would offer to buy Foodland Associated's Australian business for A$846 million ($661 million).

Under the offer, Foodland shareholders would retain ownership of Foodland's New Zealand business, which accounts for about 70 percent of sales.

The offer would value Foodland's Australian supermarkets and other operations at A$7.18 a share, which Metcash said was a 39 percent premium to the estimated value of the domestic arm.

Metcash, whose largest arm is IGA Distribution, also said it planned to pay A$2.92 a share for the 61 percent of Metcash owned by South African grocer Metro Cash & Carry .

Metcash last traded at A$2.94, capitalising its 638.8 million shares at A$1.9 billion. Foodland last traded at A$19.21, valuing its 117.8 million shares at A$2.2 billion.

($=A$1.28)

1) although there is a MA fight going on but it's getting a little too messy for my liking - so I was quite gracious in giving up my shares... afterall, it was meant for a short term trade anyway.

Hi HC
Seems to be going against the short term market trend.
Breakout to new highs.

Mark,

Ken seems to have a lot of success in shorting the market. May be you want to look into that?

Cheers.

ps: I am happy just to stand in queue behind you... after you jump into the deep end and if you survive then I will jump... Okay? :-)

Greetings MM,
I'd anticipate resistance at $3.40 ish.I know your chart is adjusted to new capital issue and is now showing MTT as in 'Virgin' territory but i don't think average retail investors are up to that.Their brokers don't adjust for such things, decent newspapers do,but I don't think the concept is Fully intergrated into THE thinking of the new investors.
Of course this is 'wrong' thinking but I personally would wait for a good crack of the historical 'evening star' that HC got out on earlier.Tell us what you do,give us YOUR decision. If you get the time of course.

Regards mm,
jr
