GTP Daily
1) today, I read about this in Commsec... Singed Great Southern goes quiet about sales forecasts Back Date 19/7/2005 Author Cathy Bolt Source The West Australian -- Page: 41 Great Southern Plantations did not attain its $A400 million sales forecast in the year to 30 June 2005. On 18 July this meant that Great Southern was less precise than in previous instances when lodging a briefing with the Australian Stock Exchange. It used the term "solid" to describe growth prospects for its tax-effective agribusiness investment schemes for the 2005-06 financial year. At the end of June it had been more direct in anticipating growth to $A525 million or $A550 million in fiscal 2005-06. The failure to meet its anticipated forecast has harmed the share price, which on 18 July recovered $A0.08 to $A3.38, but was still $A1 less than in mid-June 2005. *** the sell off happened back in July 1, so, here's a bit of lesson for all - trade this stock, but don't hold on too long, take your profit and run - that way you give some "screws" back to them! ps: disclaimer - I don't own this stock, I was not caught, I don't know anyone inside GTP, I am a natural born hater - I hate insider/stock manipulators.

On 30 June a story appeared in the Fin Review about Tax Deferal Plantations.Basically it said that too much soft Pulp timbers were being grown and coming up for harvest and that supply in 2006/7 would exceed demand greatly. It further stated that hardwood Plantations for use in building etc was undercapitalised by the Tax Schemes because of tax anomalies. I read about tax and primary production in this forum before. From memory it was some rambling tale about avocadoes?I don't know where it is now but it seemed to forwarn just this scenario with GTP. It was 'amusing' that GTP held up thru 30 June til the opening on 1 July.Amusing because I didn't hold,of course. regards, Shane

Shane, I don't subscribe to AFR so I missed that bit of info. In general I am aware that stock such as GTP is FYE sensitive as they have been positioning themselves as some kind of tax dodging, oops, I mean tax avoiding scheme; but a sell off such as this begs a lot of questions and answers. Cheers.

Holycow If one wished to be 'investigative'or perhaps still held GTP,I'd be wondering how they went selling the schemes last season. The article was based on an Industry,Timber Industry,Study. It was orientated towards Government Forestry as well as Private. GTP and Gunns were quoted as saying it didn't apply to them. They were 'Good Managers' and didn't agree etc etc.but they would carry on so,right? I just wonder if this Info was available say months ago and it took the journalist time to fit it in the paper[at the last moment 30/6]and that good accountants/advisors may have been fully aware of it say back in March and advised clients to not get in it[Plantations]. I,of course,Know nothing definite along this scenario.I don't and won't hold these shares so I don't want or need to confirm or deny.I see it as a possible explanation that those with an interest should maybe look in to. Personally,I've better things to do than worry about full and correct disclosure by Tax Fiddlers. regards,

1) please meet GTP's cousin ANE, they are "wood of a forest, burn together", when one dies the other will get a heart attack... 2) the moral? If you like Woodstocks, just make sure you are "hip" enough to know the difference between a music fest and a con job - one gives you a lot of pleasure, the other gives you plenty of pain.

1)... sigh! this is one stock I am completely clueless. I can't beat these "bast...." behind this one. Can't beat them and so can only do one thing - stay as far away as possible... whoever and whatever the people and story behind this stock, you, as a trader can only believe 30% and that 30% has to be discounted by a further 50%. This much you can "trust" what you are hearing or reading. 2) nothing else to say except this - stay away from this one because you can never beat them and you can't join them either. If no one wants to "touch" them, when there's no interest and no money in this stock, "they" will behave. This, the only way to treat them. 3) hate them! muddling...

Dug, No magical find here. Thought I found some seasonal pattern but I don't think it's consistent. Still the same old trick - stay away from this one if you can't stand "manipulation". Frankly for those who are willing to hold, this one can make them some money. Buy when the weekly RSI rebounds and hold this sucker until it reaches overbought at around 70 (should fall around April '07) and bail before "they" start "screwing" around with ATO. Anyway I am not putting money down on this one... yet! (...can't imagine I am getting "upset" with a stock!)

HC, Article in today's Fin Review putting the falls in Great,Gunns and TimberCo down to moves to REMOVE tax incentive. This talk has come up last two Junes. It's got a fair bit of National Party politics involved and probably as a Victorian,HC you think the Nats are cr&p but us Cane Toads and sandgropers know their insidious ways. Anyhow Forest Enterprises is the Go according to this article. The money in trees is in HARD WOOD not wood-chips.Building Material not paper products.I can give you more details, slurs on the character of Gunns even proper facts if you ask. I'm going to check out Futuris as a Rural,Regional GOer.Have they got rid of the car air-conditioners yet?I'm getting a "feeling" bout Futuris.I reckon they may be New Country,Regional Mover'n'Shakers so come d'Bear or Bull on Futuris for us,HC
