Friday August 26, 03:39 AM Lessons To Draw From FY05 Results A preliminary review of reporting season would suggest it has been an excellent profit performance overall, but looking more closely at results has indicated everything is not as rosy as it may appear. On Macquarie’s calculations aggregate earnings for the six months to June 30 have increased 2.1% compared to forecasts at the beginning of the profit period. But the broker notes the overall quality of results has been lower, as its EPS growth forecasts have been wound back to 7.9% from 8.3% previously, with industrial stocks leading the downgrade. Further emphasising the fall in quality, the broker’s analysis shows while revenue growth has been upgraded to 11.5% from 7.9%, it has been accompanied by cuts to EBIT growth from 10.1% to 8.5%. Additionally, margins have fallen to 10.13% from 10.44%, with lower tax expenses supporting the growth in headline profits and the fall in quality of earnings.... *** it's a good idea to compare note and re-appraise your outlook against the comments of the analysts; this is one way to stay "objective".

... it's good to take a break if you are neck deep into the market... it's better still after a long break the market starts to "act" according to your anticipated script... although the sky outside looks gloomy, somehow I am "feeling" sunshine all over! It's good to be back here, and... things are looking up, it's the season for cherry picking! Let's get to work!

Gotta say this before I forget... it's on a day like this one can see far, ie, the lies, missing links, the bad forecasts, the good numbers, the good news, the bullish views, the good news journos, the "analysts", the company reports, craps and more craps on company valuation, low PE, historical averages, good growth, unending demand, China as treasure chest, commodity demand remains high, profit remains good, blah blah blah... ... You have to ask and think - what happens to all these good news and optimism? Good stocks bad stocks most are RED! RED! I mean, this is the day everyone should try to recall and remember and then later on find a way to "dig" them out and remember - there are a lot of craps in this market. They are "released" to trap your hard earned dollars. It's as simple as that.

... while I wait, let me blatter on... how a bear market develops. Ooops! I shouldn't say bear market I should say something else or there will be heaps of bull saying "there he goes again, 2 or 3 days down and they are proclaiming it's the end of the world...". So this time I ain't gonna say it's a bear market or end of the world kind of talk, I am gonna say it's a good day, a bloody good day indeed - if you are holding plenty of cash. Now you can take your time, pick the moment and choose the stocks you have always wanted to own... how about that? Now for example, if you think BHP is cheap at 20.42 a pop, and if you think selling this gem at 22 is a big mistake, then, it's STEAL to buy at this price! Really! So don't wait. Go for it! How about RIO, WPL, CBA, ANZ and so on? They are now on a Pre-Xmas sales - how about grabbing some? ...if you do, here's some story to shake things up to make it interesting. Do you still remember last month BHP was such a must-have and must-own, why is it going for sale now? Fundamentally I am damn sure nothing has changed. Not much! So what has changed? What about next month? Will it be cheaper? Damn! This is the tough part! How do you know by next month BHP won't be having a clearance sale? I won't know. But I sure as hell want you to buy some because I want you to make money coz I am a nice guy. On top of that, this approach has always been working out in the last 28 months, you buy on dip and a few days later, it rebounds and you make heaps! Can't go wrong this way. So go for it. You have my words that you will come out winning! Trust me...

... yeah, it's day like this I have a lot to say... this is the umpteen times now - when you hear those market experts and analysts that quote PE15, cheap and under value market, blah blah blah and craps, you know "they" want you to believe them, they want you to buy and utilise your capital... so someone, don't know who really but just someone, for some reasons will never fail to take the opportunity to sell their over priced stocks to you. If you feel like a sucker today, do yourself a favour - learn some freaking lesson! *(**&(*^%^%!
