Some work on dividend rate from proposed portfolio. By adding up all the published dividends for 2006,and the prices for each share as of yesterday, the rate is 3.9%FF. With LNN I estimated at 36cents instead of the actual 68 that included a special dividend.I also don't know the formula for converting Fully Franked Dividends to Taxable Cash Rate using the new Tax regime from Budget so I estimate 3.9FF is about 5.5%Flat[used 40%,at 30 ~5.1%] Anyhow dividends are approx equal to Bank Deposit, only just and actually less,so that means one is looking for Growth in this Portfolio to supplement the Income loss from not just leaving 600 grand on Deposit. This, better than Bank Rate,is of course the BASIC reason for having a Share Portfolio but I assume you've read all about That in a book or something!! Will complete the Individual Share Charts today and go into some alternative choices on the weekend,DLS* cheers, jr *DLS=desperate lost soul

So Desp Lost Soul.some conclusions. This portfolio's Capital Gains Driver over the last 3 years was by AMP-a fallen angel 3 years ago[a Company out of favour that's price dropped significantly and has now come back] BOL-A new Float that ran from $1 ish Issue Price to $4+ in less than 3 years. and ASX[$12.30 to $30+] basically because of the past 3 years being such an extraordinary Bull Market. These 3 shares were the Bulk Gainers. You should note CAREFULLY their 'TYPE' and realise that your proposed Portfolio does NOT cover any share NOW of this type ie All your picks are Full Blown,Establised Trenders which,MAY,reverse, stagnate, generally NOT Perform in the Coming 3 years as well as in the last 3 years. For fallen angels may I suggest looking in the Health Care Sector?Federal Gov't is Mucking Around with 'What's Covered'.pathology, radiology etc,by Medicare and it seems this has depressed this sector but a Bargain could be waiting to 'fly again'. New Floats are always coming up.Check them out and be prepared to buy more far beyond the Issue Price. If I had 600 grand and was looking for Franked Income I'd be looking at Preference/Convert Notes. The best ones convert the $ price into how many shares it'll buy on conversion date NOT a fixed number set at the start. Anyway,it's a while since I had some Prefs so you'll have to look at them yourself. Now you're probably still desperate and lost but that's your lot. Happy Trading. jr
