Hi all; It is with great reluctance that I have decided to hang up my trading hat indefinitely. Effective trading requires many things, and unfortunately I have to admit that I am missing two very important requirements of an effective trader. They being, time and money! In my years of learning the trading game (1999 was my commencement) I have learnt all the hard lessons, those that teach you that trading is mainly about money management and psychology. Those I have down pat! Unfortunately, with young kids, shiftwork etc, I don't have the proper time to devote to my trading. And this is made even harder with a trading balance that won't even buy a decent Plasma!!! Perhaps in a few years time, I shall return with past experience as my psychological base, and a decent capital base to trade with. Because the latter is currently too big a hurdle to trade effectively without. I will keep a presence within the forum, because there is always an opportunity to learn something new, or share ones insights with others. Cheers all.

Dave you say money management and psychology are not your reasons for stopping trading, my main reason for losing heaps and starting all over, with a $4,000 balance. Do you mind me asking "Was it a trading system therefore that didn't work"?

Not really sure how to take your post Chaza. But let me say, I haven't surrendered, consider it a temporary stay of shore, till a better ship appears to cross the treacherous waters.

<startcopy> Colin, I have given it almost three years of practice but I am definitely not making profits. I hate to admit it but I don't have the skill to trade. My day job is well paid and covers the expenses of my life style. I am also starting a new day job in January which will take up my time and energy . I am well paid and I would have to achieve 60% annual portfolio return in trading just to match my day's wages. Trading doesn't add anything to my quality of life and it may be the main reason I fail at it. It was a worthy exercise to start at a young age because I can't fathom the idea of having put more money at risk at a later time. It's best to lose 6 months worth of wages at age 30 than to lose 6 years worth of wages at age 60. I am single and I have had it easier than persons who have dependents to feed and nurture, trade and carry a day job. I would like to request that you cancel my Premium Subscription for the next billing cycle and thereafter. I thank you for all provided services and an outstanding customer service. Regards, <endcopy>

Good luck O cool one When you return to trading /investing you will be a 100 times wiser and knowledgable than the average Joe with a super fund to play with. Hard to work out why it wouldn't work for you,but i know the drag of a job and trading do not work really unless you have a longer term weekly system similar to the great "stevo" that used to post around the traps. It is a dangerous market now and recently, best to be in cash me thinks. cheers
