I received a question from a reader in California. Perhaps some of you may be able to answer him:

My name is Alan and I'm a private securities and futures trader working in Southern California. If you have a moment, can you tell me if Australian traders can make a good living trading the SFE SPI 200 and other local markets or do they generally rely on the vast liquidity of US markets? This might seem like a silly question, but not knowing anything of your markets and hearing very little about them in the US, asking you is an obvious approach. I appreciate any insight you might be able to share.

Colin,
Perhaps Alan may like to take a look at the forum at www.reefcap.com. There is lots of discussion about futures trading (including SPI) there.
Cheers
Dave
