Author Message  monojoker Member Username: monojoker Post Number: 10 Registered: 12-2002 Rating: N/A Votes: 0 Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 07:56 am:     I'm not comfortable trying to pick TA winners in the current market but I was thinking... with the current share prices there'd have to be some pretty juicy yield %s out there on installment/endowment warrants. Now I'm considering this as a strictly long term strategy so short term falls on the underlying don't worry me much. I will probably loan the money to take advantage of tax benefits as well. But the catch is can we expect historical dividends to be much of an indication of future performance? Obviously with a contraction in spending and economic growth company outlooks will change - I'm just wondering how dramatically. Anyone have any data on how previous recessions have affected dividend yields for Australian companies? Commsec doesn't hold many years of dividend performance... Thanks for any help/discussion. Oh forgot to add, I hope this is the correct forum for this post, I didn't really see a more suitable one - if there is moderators please move it to a more suitable location.
