This might be the reason from the bigger picture

Analysis of this rally in XAO since Mar'03
First leg of rally:
From 2666.2 to 3317.4 = 651.2 pts (13/03/03 to 22/10/03)

.618% of 651.2 = 402.4

Next low on 21/11/03 @ 3170.4 + 402.4 = 3572.8

Bingo at today's highs! and now it gets interesting

Hi Julles.

Sure it looks toppy, but Archer has been calling a top in AORD for 3 weeks now... I'm glad I didn't go short! Did you notice the very nervous pre-opening offers on Thursday morning? It looked like the beginning of a massive down day, but then the buyers came in and ate the bears for morning tea :-)

The huge divergence between the Australian and US markets is spooking me too, but if then trend is up, then what can we do but trade the trend?
