Over in the Weekly Stock Picks, my selection for the week ahead is Coal of Africa. The rationale is as follows: CZA has developed a recent habit of ranging for a week or two following a price spike, as shown. Such a spike occurred a week ago, accompanied by elevated volume, as shown on the chart below.
One more piece of gratuitous information - they changed their name and code on 3DEC07 from GVM Metals (GVM).

The only events of note over the past week were: 1. The price slid down to test support at $1.80 2. 5 & 15 day MAs crossed over 3. A failed re-trace 4. Price is testing its 30-day MA 5. A director resigned on 21DEC07. Since a new finance director and company secretary were appointed a week earlier, I wouldn't read anything sinister into it.

This was a week of ranging after bouncing off 30 day MA. Over the last few days, price has picked up a whisker above $1.80. Volume is minuscule.
Will post again when something worthwhile happens.

It's amazing what a good write-up in the Fin Rev can do. CZA was listed as one of the stocks to watch for 2008. I wonder if the Fin Rev journo trawls this site? Anyway, it spiked considerably in price and volume during a very bad day across the rest of the market.
From here on, it will retrace a bit and then range for a while. Breaking through the marked resistance line is probably the next signal of an imminent surge.

Volume has steady higher over the past week. That's sellers taking some profit and speculators thinking it will rise again to test the $2.10 resistance line. If it closes below support around $1.80, then the next support line around $1.50 will be the short-term destination.
Feel free to comment if anyone out there sees something that I'm missing.

When CZA broke below its support at $1.80, I thought it had double-topped. Since then, volume has remained high and it enjoyed a week of rises. So I'm predicting it will steadily rally to test the double top value of $2.10, having bounced up off its 150d MA, shown in green.
I don't hold CZA.

Three weeks further on, it looks set to test its recent highs at $2.10.

Over the past week, CZA teased the $2.20 high but failed to close above it. It dropped on Friday but suspect it will have another go within a few weeks.
I don't hold CZA, so no ramping going on here, just TA observations.

Well, it's finally closed above $2.20. So to repeat its recent history, there should be a dip down to about $2.05 then another upsurge.

Three weeks later and we're off into the stratosphere. I guess there will be the inevitable re-trace and then it will settle back into the more sedate upchannel that it's been following since Jan.

Well, we've transcended the stratosphere and are now in the ionosphere.

CZA has cracked the $4 barrier, closing at $4.23 yesterday. Anyone looking at getting in should wait for a retrace down to the low $4 mark before the next surge. I'll try to post a chart on the weekend.

I agree Jimmyswell, a high wick shows potential sellers lurking about up there, and the low $4 region may be a good regroup and re-enter point..I am watching this one daily also...along with BLK
I now stop thinking, and enjoy trading!! As a man thinks so is he (Jesus Christ).

CZA appears to be settling in above a $4 threshold.
