Hello all, I would just like to say that the information that many have provided has been greatly appreciated. As I over the years I steer my way through the mass of information on shares. But can anyone tell me if there is an indicator or is there a way of calculating ROAR in Incredible Charts?

Hi pic1 & Colin (Indicators) I use Rate of Change (Price). Select Weekly, Time period 52. This is as close to ROAR that I can see using I/C This way you can also scan using % Price Move, select 1 year and put in say 30 in Minimum cell. This will scan for stocks that have risen by 30% or more from a 1 year ago. Put in 100 and you will get stocks that have doubled in price from 1 year ago. Colin, would you say this would be as close as you can get for ROAR using I/C? Cheers Visions

Visions, Yes. For the present. We plan to add a %Gain line, to the Drawing tools, that will show a line rising at a pre-set gain rate (e.g. 25% p.a.), but this may still be several weeks away. Regards, Colin

Hi pic1 I also have OB/OS levels set at 30 & -30 then I have added a level trend line in the indicator panel at the levels of 20 & -20 so you can have a ROAR and a ROAD at the same time. I'm pretty sure you know what I'm on about. Cheers Visions

Hi Visions, Thanks for the graphic showing the ROAR set up I have set it up using your suggestions. Excuse me for appearing to be a bit thick but, the reference you made to ROAD is that an acronym for some thing?(if it is I haven't heard of it). So I assume that, it is ment to define an optimal channel, you hope the chart line will be in a fair amount of time. If that is so do you use this 20 to 30% channel as a way of checking for best trading buys? One other thing, the trend lines added to the chart only appear on the chart they are added to, is there a way to have them appear as a default in a project? Thanks again for your help regards Pic1

Hi pic1 Simply put, to use ROAR (Rate Of Annual Return) see Alan Hull's Course notes for full explanation. Roughly, once over 30 = entry level, the 20 level is his thought that money might be better off somewhere else. Long Trades! The ROAD ( Rate of Annual Decline) for Short Trades. Once again -30 = Entry level, the -20 level is his thought that money might be better off somewhere else. Short Trades! As I say look up Alan Hull's course notes or books as to how to trade using his thoughts. You might be able to find links in I/C forum or just search for it in the web . Horizontal Trend lines default in Indicator Panel? No! I think a solution to this is needed and I've asked the Question below. }Hi Colin, When opening up a new indicator panel for our charts we can select our OB/OS levels but only 1 of each. Is there any possibility we can have 2 of each or leave it as is and add the ability if wanted to have up to 2 horizontal lines added to our indicator. That way it will stay there for all the charts we view in that project we have selected. Then at the same time it will save us putting horizontal trend lines for every chart we view. As you can see it would save a lot of time when using this way of trading. I have seen other members struggle with a solution here. Many thanks Colin for any attention. } Cheers Visions

Thanks for your explanation Visions, I originally thought I would try using ROAR after Snifter made reference to Allan Hulls in one of his posts. I've found Allan Hull's site so I will read up on it further as you suggested. http://www.alanhull.com.au/ (for any one else wanting to look) Regards Pic1
