I am trying to create an MACD chart with the following parameters macd (3,10,16) but it will only give me macd (10,3,16) ie it reverses the 3 & 10 when I apply the formula. Is there some way around this problem? I would like to replicate the macd chart below. Regards, Bela Somssich.

Bela, It does not matter what order you enter the first two numbers in, the MACD will be displayed as 10,3,16. The fast MA is always subtracted from the slow MA - even on the above chart, otherwise the result would be inverted. Regards, Colin

I want to make the fast ma 3, the slow ma 10 and smoothing to 16. I have tried various combinations but cannot copy the example I have given above. Is there any way to do this with IC? my chart looks like this:

Bela I am attempting to replicate your first chart - the eSignal model. I have discovered the problem, but have no idea how you did it. It seems you have succeeded in breaking the IC code! This is the first time I have seen a 9 month WEEKLY MACD interposed onto an 18 month WEEKLY chart. That is exactly what you have in YOUR chart from IC, and it is the reason it does not look anything like the eSignal chart. All I can suggest is that you rebuild your chart the way I did, commencing from "NEW PROJECT" in the "FILE" drop-down menu. Below you can see my chart with what you are looking for, and at the bottom is a 9 month WEEKLY MACD on a 9 month chart, which looks exactly like what you have built. How did you do that? My right brain picked up the difference straight away, but my left brain is asleep - can't work out how to interpose different time-frames in one chart.

... or maybe both sides of the brain are asleep! The eSignal chart is a WEEKLY, with WEEKLY MACD but yours is a DAILY, with WEEKLY MACD. Does that help? It's all in the time frame chosen, and the daily/weekly candle chosen.

I got the esignal chart from someone - I didn't actually make it myself and want to use these variables (with IC of course) and avoid having to sign up with esignal. Thanks for pointing out the weekly close. I changed that but still can't get the same as you. Can you tell me how you set yours up? Sorry, but I'm not a natural charter - I can read them somewhat but the mechanics are a bit of a challenge to me. This is what I got:

Bela You can get the same chart as I have by clicking your mouse 6 times, providing you already have the WEEKLY MACD loaded, which I see you do have. On the top tool bar: click on "Time Period" then click on "1 year 6 months" then on the window where you see "Daily" click on the down arrow to see "Daily/Weekly/Monthly" then click on weekly. On top tool bar then click on "View". On the drop-down menu then click on "Candle" The colours etc can be altered from the "Format Charts" menu (optional) and you can get rid of the grid if desired using the same link. I can see you already know how to add/remove indicators. Don't give up now - you are very close. Cheers Ingot

What a helpful soul you are Ingot. Always willing to lend a hand. No doubt it can be done Bela. You'll get the hang of it soon enough.
All the best.

You are a good soul Ingot! No doubt the six click solution was what got me through! Many thanks for that and the support 007. Reassuring to see that IC can do what esignal can. Excellent forum! Regards, Bela.
