Tonights list of suggested topics(notice I didn't say agenda, this is not a formal meeting, but a gathering of like minded people to discuss a common obsession) will be similar to last months, starting off with a discussion of your most recent trade/ or the share that you are following at the moment.
* A look back at how you handled the "IRAQNAphobia".
*How do you reward yourself for a good trade?
*What trading style has netted you the most profit?
*The psychology of trading.
*What allowance do you make for the "rare event" in your trading?
*Your most recent "read", or favourite trading book.

Yo scalper,
I'm not sure how My post ended up there! Spider is a bit 'out of it' at the moment, but I didn't realise I was that out of it! Need to spend more time in the web, and less time driving around.

I'll see if I can move it over.

Your contribution to the meeting was excellent as always.
To have a professional trader in the group is a real bonus, add to that your unique style, and the group has someone that opens our eyes to the various options available in trading.

Spider is going to miss the expo due to family duties, so I would be very interested in what you and others who go, think of the expo.

Posted on Friday, 02 May, 2003 - 14:01:

We had our monthly meeting (last Wednesday of the month) last Wednesday.
Wow! We doubled our numbers from last month!
We were trying out a new venue (williamat must be exhausted finding new places for us to meet, well done Bill).

A big group presents it's own special set of challenges, but I think we handled it well.

I was impressed by everyones patience.
Everyone had a chance to speak, and what a quality group of presentations it was.

It was a real buzz to have 'uturn' back with us after a couple of months off. He has promised to put together a presentation on 'Trends and Tripwires' for us in the near future.

Scalper has offered to put together a presentation on option writing for our next meeting, that is one not to miss.

I learned a long time ago that it is very important to associate with the kind of people you would like to become.
Well, if you want to become an intelligent, open minded, friendly, helpful, generous, funny, articulate person, you should have been in that room last Wednesday !

As always, as a group, we come at the challenge of taking money out of the market, from a variety of directions. But some things are the same for all of us. Entries ,exits, money management, personal demons, personal ambitions. The willingness to share, in this group, is amazing.

It was excellent to see so many enthusiastic new faces.

The service at the restaurant was excellent (that poor girl going up and down those stairs!), the food was very good (or at least mine was), plenty to drink if you wanted it, and we had the upstairs to ourselves.

After killing the music, we had a fighting chance of hearing what was going on. Well done to those shy ones who had to speak loudly to allow the hearing impaired among us to share in your wisdom.

We have come to the conclusion that no venue is going to be perfect, the trick seems to be to have a place that is reasonable comfortable, with food and drink available, that is reasonably private, and that is flexible enough to cope with expanding and contracting numbers. This venue seems to provide most of these.

Picking a mid week day helps, as there is not as much 'general public' around, even in a place like Toorak Rd, so it is quieter and there is parking.

I learned some things Wednesday night, but more importantly than that, I made some new friends, and caught up with with some old ones. I was also sparked to go back and dig out some old books that I have read, and to try a new trading technique, a 'new string to the bow', if it works out well, i will bore you with the details at some later date.

If you are out there, thinking of starting a group, or just trying to hold one together, take heart. Trading groups a a very liquid thing, people come and go, new people show interest. Considering the nature of trading, it is a miracle that we ever get together in the first place!
Despite the large number at this meeting, there are only five members left from the original meeting, and only two that have been to every meeting.

Spider, for one, is not a joiner of groups! I'm amazed that I am here, but I am, and glad to be. You would travel a long way to associate with this calibre of people, and I do!
Looking forward to next month.
spider.

Hi guys,

Ok, I have been given permission for us to use the RMIT facilities. Only problem is that it would have to be on Tuesday nights as it is booked out on Wednesdays. But the best thing is that it will cost us nothing to use.

If everyone is ok with this, let me know what kind of food you would like and I can move on to finding a caterer. Drinks would have to be BYO though.

Regards

LaFeeVerte

Yo lafee,
that is excellent news dude.
We had dinner with Bill tonight. We talked about this excellent news. This group belongs to all of us but, if you guys don't mind, I would like to suggest Tuesday 10th of June.
This will be 2 weeks after our next monthly meeting. It will also give us a chance to discuss how to get the best out of your facilities, at our next meeting (last Wed' of the month).

Spider has a regular commitment on Tuesday's so unfortunately I won't be able to attend. So I have asked Bill if he will look after the group on the night.

Bill is keen to talk to you about this night. So you might like to contact Bill and chew the fat, you have plenty of time to sort out the details, food etc, Bill has had a LOT of experience so far.

This meeting being on a different night of the week, and with computer access, will most likely bring in people who cannot come on a Wednesday and prefer the different format.

If there is any way I can help, you only have to ask.
In the mean time get in touch with Bill and work out the details.

I look forward to a blow by blow account of the evening.

Again, thankyou on behalf of all the group for your efforts in this endeavour.

spider.

Hi Spider,

How could we have a meeting without Spider??

The person who uses the facility on Wednesday doesn't actually have formal permission to use it - they just do!!

I shall use my influence over my course co-ordinator to kick that person out.

Well, I'll try to anyway.

I'll Let you know how it goes.

Regards

LaFeeVerte

Yo lafee,
I appreciate the thought dude, I really do.
But, you have a green light from your co-ordinator, you don't want to go rocking the boat.

There are some excellent people in this group, it will be an excellent meeting.

I forgot to mention that this would be an great chance for Uturn to do a presentation on how to get the best out of the IC site. You might want to get in touch with him and see if he can make it on that date. He has offered to do this for us, but we have not had the internet access until now.

Push ahead dude, there is no need to complicate your life.
You don't need the headache of trying to change what you have worked so hard to achieve.

Talk to Bill, he is a wise dude, and he has been around since we started.

Regards spider.

Just a reminder that our next monthly meeting is next Wednesday at Tamani. 6:30.

Hopefully 'scalper' will be able to make a presentation on option writing (not to be missed.

Bring yourself, favourite trading book, and any shares you would like to discuss with the group.

Beware, spider might ask you how you celebrate a good trade.

Good food, good wine, and good company. I look forward to catching up with all you dudes and dudettes.

Hi Guys,

Won't be able to make the next meeting at Tamani as I have an exam the next day but would like to remind people to keep June 10th free as the most likely date for the first meeting at RMIT (business campus in the city).

I also need imput regarding what catering to organise. Give me an idea about how much I should spend (p/head) and any suggestions to the type of food would be helpful. I was thinking about $10-$12 perhead and have tapas.

Anyway, let me know.

Regards

LafeeVerte.

Hi Lafee,
What's Tapas? Actually I don't care too much. Our experience with Eastern Golf club seemed to indicate that we should minimise costs. My suggestion would be finger foods $10.00. I'm not sure if grog or any drinks can be purchased or taken in, the only issue here is that we should advise in advance.
It will be necessary to have a computer loaded with IC in order to project the pertinent matter. We will be hoping that U-turn will be able to attend and take us through maximising the power of IC.
Thanks for your efforts on this, please let me know if I can help in any way.
Cheers, Bill.
