The Eastern suburbs traders group meets last Wednesday of the month, which is next week. Details above in thread of where and when. All new Melbourne traders welcome. Good discussion stimulated by the presence of a trader from America, who is in fact an employee of an American Broker with branches in Aus.. He is an accountant with them, not a broker himself. There were some very healthy exchanges between he and our members. Probably to sum up, He felt there is not much difference in trading here and US., and agreed with the proposition that our market is not as true to indicators as in US. There were 2 books which our visitor mentioned, I'm npt sure I've written them down correctly; I will check them and post later today. Enjoyed the night too, just to catch up with some old faces and meet some new ones. What I really appreciate is the good humour, it is not a meeting where you feel you need to be intelligent all the time, it's pretty relaxed and people don't get on their soap boxes about the definitive whatever but allow a fairly wide ranging free discussion. I always feel I have gained something from the meeting. I have found if you keep an open mind you can learn something from everyone, you just have to ask the right questions. I spent 8 years as a drive presenter on a community radio station, interviewing on average 5 people each show each week and I never found anyone boring, no matter what the topic, because once you made the connection with them, there was something of interest and new to learn from everyone, and most of the interviewees were just everyday people like you and (possibly) me. I have not checked Amazon, but will be looking through abeboks.com to see if there is a second hand copy in an Aussoe store. The other book he mentioned is SPREAD BETTING,I wrote down Elliott as Authir but noyhing comes up under that, but there are 25 titles with different authors and some definitely no appropriate as they appear the subject for sports, (or wiuld they be). Have just been advised that our booking at Northbrooke house expires after our next meeting- Nov.24. I have advised them that we would require a room for December. Normal night would be Dec.29. I have arranged that we can advise them by Wed. next which night we would like of Dec. 15, 22, 29. or none. Previously I have advised that we would be having a Xmas night for Dec. for which Ann would prepare finger foods at a cost to us of $5.00 each. (nothing too flash, but very good I've told her.) To accommodate the future I need to hear from all interested, 1. Which night would you prefer, 15 22 29 or none. guess if none you won't respond. For catering purposes we will need numbers and possibly there could be too many for the largest room in which case we'd need to book the adjoining room. 2. An indication from the 'crowd' of the value to them of maintaining the regular meetings at that place, or for that matter, at all. I will take the liberty then of assessing the future along Spider who was central to the commencement of the group. I hope that's clearer than mud and please observe the shut off time of 4.00 pm next Wednesday. Good Wishes. Bill.
