Great to see this has now been arranged. Would love to be there myself but can't make it due to being in Darwin on business. Looking forward to the next get together.

Our 1st meeting was held at the Brecknock and I must say it was a good choice of venue. Nice and central, easy parking, big room upstairs(free) and some decent food (bought to us by a waitress) - could not be faulted. There were 5 of us, not bad for the 1st meeting. Basically, it was a put names to faces night but there was healthy discussion on Dealforfree, data providers, trading styles technical analysis. Charts were shown on a Dell portable and certain indicators, trends were discussed. Thanks to MickV for the the rundown on DMI, RSI and divergence. We also touched on shorting, indexes, state of the market, reference books, ATAA etc. Next meeting Wednesday 26 March 2003 - 7pm at the Brecknock Extra participants are most welcome. If I have missed anything guys, then please feel free to expand. Alan (Blue_Chap)

G'day guys, Just wondering how Alan and Mick were going with D4F. I've noticed quite a bit of interest on the forum lately concerning above and to me who would like to try trading short in this bear market, D4F seems the way to go. Portmaquarie seems to think the spread can be to wide and was wondering after our meeting the other night when you Alan talked about buying at market, do you also sell at market? Have Fun Peter

Hi guy's,I don't know how Alan is going? I've had a good try,and I love it now that it's been upgraded. Tried market, limit, stop order's,and they all work fine so long as you trade stocks with large turn over! so now when stock screening,I've used the top 100 and made sure daily volume average's 1mil or more. Have'nt tried to OCO an order yet! At this stage I've only opened short, and closed out during the day, except for one night. Also only traded small parcels while I'm getting the feel of it. Opened the account with 6,000 and up by 626 at this stage, which I'm more than happy about. But if you let one get out of hand( because of leverage) you'd be down the tube !! So now I'm going to work out how much to limit per/trade,and percentage of account size etc. The spreads have't been any different when you compare to market depth, some look bad, but then when I've checked it has mainly been lack of volume. All you can do is open the minum account, and try by only doing small trades.Good luck!Mick

Well our 2nd meeting was held at the Brecknok and we had some new faces - 4 to be exact. Still no sign of Pagenip and Stan but maybe they will join the ranks later. The food and ale was once again of good standard. Once again we had a PC to look at charts on Bourse, which proved very useful. Jim maybe able to provide a projector for future meetings - failing this, if anyone knows where we might get a cheap projector, please can you let us know? It would certainly be better than crowding round a screen. There was some discussion on general market conditions and trading in general. Once again MickV ran through some indicators, MACD, RSI and divergence which proved useful. No we are up and running, the was a general concensus, to make the meetings sightly more structured, so that everyone can participate better. IC stock scanning was also discussed and it was agreed that we would take scan parameters to the next meeting to air this further. Printed charts of trades for the coming month were also requested such that we can go through these at the next meeting. CFD's also received some attention and there was interest from some people not currently using them. Next meeting Wednesday 30 April 7pm Don't forget the printed material. Al

Hi Guys, Enjoyed the meeting last week. I believe there is a projector in the Southern dining room of the brecknock. If not, I may be able to get my hands on a projector, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Saw this in the latest WEA brochure and thought it may interest some: -- Develop Your Personalised Trading Plan Successful traders and investors in the stock market use a business plan which suits their own personality, and each plan will be different. Critical elements of any plan include time and cash constraints, fundamental and technical analysis tools, market sectors, selection of stocks, watch lists, time frames, entry and exit strategies, money management, monitoring, understanding our emotional self and most importantly, committing our plan to paper. Some knowledge of technical analysis is assumed - suitable for students who have completed the WEA course "Technical Analysis for the Stock Market" or equivalent. Fee includes comprehensive booklet of notes. Sorry, no concession. Chris Temby ME DIP. COMP.SC Sun 9:30 am 6 July 1day x 6hrs Fee $129, disc $116 WEA Centre Adelaide -- I've heard good reports of Chris Temby's books, but not read them. Has anyone attended one of his classes, or read his books? I'm currently looking for literature, courses on trading plans, and this looked like a reasonable priced resource. Cheers, Josh
