Hi Lawrance, I think I was your age once, but I can't remember, it was so long ago. However, of one thing I am sure, when it comes to trading, the longer I have been at it, the better I become, and by definition, the older I get. The best trading advice that I can give you is to keep your social and professional (trading) lives separate unless they happen, by some twist of fate, to be compatable. Cheers, Mosaic (a boring old fart)

Trading is definitely a 'lone wolf' profession. But it is good to get together with likeminded people. Most of the people in our group are a bit ancient like spider, so I worry about the likes of 'lafee' having to hang around with the 'stone age dudes'. But ,if the shoe was on the other foot, I would be more than glad to hang out with the dinosaurs. All that knowledge and experience in one place, and they love to talk. So all you have to do is listen and sift. How cool is that? Remember that the old ones are just young ones trapped inside an old exterior. We all need encouragement, so surround yourself with people who are going somewhere, and soak up the feeling. But be warned, success can be habit forming! spider. P.S. you will notice at the top of this post I said the word 'profession' when describing what we do. I did this because a profession is something that not everyone can do.

Hi Everyone, We have an active group of traders who meet once a week here on the Gold Coast. I think the others will agree with me when I say I reckon we have all become more competent traders because of it. It is good to share our experiences with each other… Most people in our own circle of friends/family don't know what it means when we talk about those highs and lows... taking profits/losses etc. Or generally what it's like to feel as passionately about trading as we do. Majority of members is mid 30's to 50's with majority falling somewhere in the middle. It seems to me though that when it comes to trading full time… age hasn’t been a barrier at all. (One of our traders is the same age as you are Lawrance.) Cheers, Create

Hi Everyone, The problem with trading is Disadvantage: it is so boring and when all your friends is working you are out having a game of golf, movies, coffee, lunch & shopping You are doing all the things that they do on thursday night shop or weekends Advantage: You got a lot of time in your hands and none of your friends even understand what you do at all!!! Trading is a skill if you master the skill you will be one of the top 20% of the traders that make the money on what 80% of traders lose If you were to ...start trading the sky's the limit Regards Jerry "Time is all that we have & Time is running out".

Hi Buffalo I'm in Brisbane, however part of the Fringe Benefits of being a Trader is the ability to make time and Travel to nice Places (can't think of much better than the Coast !!!) and meet interesting and like minded People. I know Steve M is keen to trade some notes etc. and this Thread has thrown up a few names I haven't seen in the forum before, who have obviously been participating for a while. There is a diminishing Group of Options Traders I meet with occasionally at the "Kurrawa SLSC", they'd be happy to meet more Traders, though in recent times it has been more of a social occasion. Lawrence, I've been doing this for the past 12 months or so, so I'd be only too happy to share experiences and cock ups with you. Maybe if we get big enough, we can chip in an Airfare for Spider to fly up and give us some one on one Tips. Airfare: $400.00 the Education: Priceless. Regards Hutcho

Gold Coast/ Brisbane Younger traders }what a great idea... I am a 27 year old futures and foreign exchange broker on the Gold Coast. Its great, this morning I got to work at 5.00AM to watch the Fed announce their interest rate decision +.25%. Set up some short USDJPY + USDCHF & long AUDUSD + GOLD positions then went surfing from 11.30 to 12.30. Now I am back at work surfing the net, keeping my eye on the market and writing this email. Not a bad life.. I would love to meet with fellow traders and have a chat about our experiences in the market over a coffee or a beer... please send me an email with your telephone number so we can have a chat, or send me an email to let me know where and when the next trading meeting is.

Hi all I am very interested in meeting with any organised group, although, please do not count on me for any experience, as my only practice has been paper trading. And boy, am I happy with what I have learnt from this forum so far. One has to wonder what one can learn by talking face to face with experienced traders. I have implemented "Snifters" long term trading plan on paper, and wow,,,,,,,,does that look brilliant!!!! I would also like to learn the best way for an "end of day" trader to make money in the market and still have some relative safety tools in place while he/she is still hard at work in the office (if there is such a system). And besides, I love being sociable and also enjoy a quiet beer, so why not? Anyone interested, please email me and I will definateley make an effort. Able

I personally thank you sincerely, because your site has been a big help to me Forever sincerely Able
