SYDNEY, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Commonwealth Bank of Australia Ltd (ASX: CBA.ax) , the country's second-largest lender, is expected to report a 7.8 percent rise in first-half profit amid robust loan growth, but higher funding costs and an equity market sell-off could crimp margins. Wholesale funding costs have increased by around 30 basis points (bp), or 0.30%, but CBA this month hiked its variable home loan rates by only 10bp and its variable business loan rates by only 15bp ***************************************************** You think a 7.8% increase in profit will get them running jax? I'm very tempted to buy, just wondering if the dow tanks tonight, will the profit be enough to keep them green? I read somewhere that at current levels it represents a 6 - 6.5% fully franked divi which should attract some buyers up to ex-div(18th feb i think)

Don't know what epicurial means Risk but I do like to devote myself to extravagant pleasure. lolol We're talking good old English fish and chips here. Don't forget the not to be forgotton English fry up. 1/2 a ton of cholestorol there, no problem. lolol. The bulls are back in town! We need the US to follow it through though. If they can do that and Asia follow on, we could see a few good days coming up. We're by no means out of the woods yet but anything helps at the moment!! Got to get that confidence going and the big buyers coming back.

Benign inflation figures, Warren Buffet bailing out the monoline insurers, hopes of more rate cuts. That's done the trick. lol. Burnt bear all round for tea, I think! lol Careful as she goes though! Some bears are burnt and some are resting!!!
