I don't agree with the author about it being a sign of the strength of our economy. I think it has more to do with the regulated nature of our lending. I think the gov here does a fairly good job of keeping the banks from doing rediculous ploys the way the US was permitted to. The worst that we seem to have done was the 110% loans a few years back, but I think they have pretty much stopped now.

Well I am having another dig at FDLOA. Nice support building at 3 cents so I placed a buy at 3.1. Will be looking to sell down around the 3.5 mark and maybe try again and again and again.

Hope it wasn't one of you boys, raped by that wombat. No wonder Stocky's moved over here if that's the sort of thing that goes on out there. Looks like no one's safe with a rogue wombat on the prowl. lololol.

It was funny how the bloke (from NZ), that was 'raped' by the wombat, said that the only ill effects that he had was that he now speaks Australian. lolololololol. Great that one. lololol.

Stocky's not getting out of bed today. It's raining and cold. There's more snow on the way as well, just to cheer him up. lolol

The UK is heading for a recession Risk. Came out today. I'm going to start hoarding food and fuel. By the way, yesterday I was talking about how much dearer things are. I pay roughly £4.50 a gallon for petrol. That's $11.25 for you. How does that compare? My heating bill came through yesterday (electricity and gas) and it was for £443 ($1107) for 13 weeks. How does that compare?

Opes Prime Appoints Voluntary Administrators
FN ARENA NEWS - 28/03/2008

The global credit crunch just added another victim in Australia. Its name is financial services group Opes Prime. The news is spreading fast this morning throughout the Australian stockbroking and financial services community that receivers and voluntary administrators have been appointed to the company.

Accountancy group Deloitte confirmed today the voluntary administrators had been appointed by a secured creditor, ANZ Bank (ANZ), as receivers and managers of Opes Prime Group Limited, Opes Prime Stockbroking Limited, Leveraged Capital Pty Ltd and Hawskswood Investments Pty Ltd.

Deloitte said the directors appointed John Lindholm of Ferrier Hodgson as voluntary administrator when they became aware of a number of cash and stock movement irregularities in relation to a small number of accounts.

The statement said the shortfalls in these accounts led directors to believe the trading operations could not continue. Trading operations have stopped and all on-market trading activity of both Opes Prime Stockbroking and Leveraged Capital have been suspended. In addition, the receivers have frozen all client accounts, including direct trading facilities, for both Opes Prime Stockbroking and Leveraged Capital.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has started an investigation.

6 pints Stocky????? Don't you drink out there in Oz. lololol. It's tradition to have a few drinks before you leave the house, then you get hammered quicker in the pub....it works out cheaper and you make a fool of yourself quicker. lolol.

F***** hell Risky. Is that all you pay? Talk about rip off Britain! That's why a lot of people emigrate to Australia. It's a lot cheaper to live and the wages are roughly the same. We've got the better weather though. lolol

Are you intending getting a car over here Stocky? Very expensive to buy and to run. And watch out for the speed cameras. We're the speed camera country of the world. They're all over the place. Fixed, in vans on bridges but the worst ones are the one's that pick you up about 2 miles away and you can't even see them. No warning, they've just got you, even if you're just over the limit @ 4am, with no one around! Every country has speed cameras but we've gone way over the top. Sometimes you even see the mobile camera vans just down the road from a fixed carera. All the money goes to the government so it's rich pickings for them. Mind you, if you've brought a car over with you, with a foreign number plate, you're ok.

u have got to take into consideration that the land of Ozz, there is no public transport to speak of, most pommies & europeans i have spoke to are dismayed at our lack of Public transport and the relativly vast distances traveled .

if you live in outer Sydney and work in inner Sydney you could be traveling 50 km or more each way with 1.5 to 2 hrs driving time .

Area i have lived in for over 40 years , -- lost our bus to the railway , which have cut back services and closed stations well in excess of 50% over that period .

basically if you can not walk to the railway , then you MUST have a vechile in Ozz , even then Rail travel is getting more dangous along with ever DECREASING destinations and services .

Sounds sh*te out there Coyote. Jax had nearly persuaded me to emigrate but what with him always having 'flu because of the weather, you saying the transport system's crap, wombats going around raping blokes, people eating horses, and even Stocky bailing out of the place, think I'll stop where I am. Good old Blighty. lolol

Bet that new zealander wanted to be raped....ever see how fast a wombat moves.
