Ahoy Captain and Julles . Thanks for the kind words.... another day is here and i'm feeling better again. After a night in my hammock and a review of the last 8 weeks I find myself no longer seasick happy with my results overall and looking to the north for safe passage. Regards Stampy

Ahoy crew I have just spotted the Big ship "Team One" It seems she has been designed by Captain Stan and financed by our beloved Emperor Claudius I really think deep down he would love to go a sailing with us but has too many ties and responsibilities back on land to join the FUN? I must be the only Captain at sea that has not read Captain Stan's book and can't understand a word you are saying but I do know Cadet-Officer /ample cook Braveheart has her handle on it This skipper tries to read as little as possible these days as he gets so mixed up if he reads too much Could one of you please get a message to our Emperor to consider match racing the great ship "Incredulous" "Team One" v XAO v "Incredulous"
Maybe it will prove to this Skipper he needs to take some time off and read ONE more book?

And very Quickly!!! Sometimes you just have to accept that those cute bears can beat you??? !!!! OUCH! OUCH! and another OUCH!

Ahoy Captain I'm trying to live the dream of a world without bears, instead bulls running north all year round. Forgive the mind of youthful fool. I'm trying to learn when to stay out but it isn't an easy lesson to learn. regards Stampy The cabin boy

Stan's a great read Captain, simple principles and easily comprehended. He works with moving averages particularly liking the 30wk Ma as a guide for timing entry and exits and DMI for sincere guidance on direction. Well worth the time taken off to read. But I do love our fast moving patterns... Julles

Julles I don't belong on this thread of seafaring warriors as I get sea sick looking at my fish tank. But, after an absence due to some computer login problems and a couple of life changing issues I am intruding to ask how did your daughter's graduation go?. What did she graduate in?. And more importantly I hope that you allowed yourself the little tear of joy and justifiable feeling of pride in the moment. Macka

Julles Sorry!! just found your post on The cruising strategy and sailing tactics thread. Sounds like it was a great day. At least the snake and the young lass seemed to have had fun. Well done. Macka

Macka, She looked beautiful and I have posted a review of the nights events in the Captains thread "Cruise strategy and Sailing Tactics" above. But quickly, she graduated High School something I did not do. I cried at the ceremony as I saw another girl give her Mum a rose, just for being her Mum .. (caught myself out for being so sensitive) My daughter arrived with a rose for Moi' and then she started to cry, so I cried with, it was a shared moment, a beautiful thing. Your words 'A little tear of joy and justifiable feeling of pride in the moment' describe exactly how I feel and felt. Thankyou for asking I love her dearly' Luv to all.. Julles

Ahoy Braveheart Phew! I thought you meant we missed out and she went North Fortunately the Captain showed great seamanship skills on that occasion as we lowered the VCN a while back when it looked like an each-way bet That makes me feel a lot better, thanks Actually I have been relatively happy considering so many tacking duels of our Downing calls as we have avoided lots of what could have been quite horrifying sailing experiences We have been able to Haul most of our wet sails back on deck but it seems another always falls into the drink to replace it As long as we learn something about ourselves everyday we should be happy I guess? "We really only learn the hard way"
Wish me luck I've gotta go down below and write up the dreaded logs now

Captain I've just seen your challenge after hearing rumours of it around various smugglers hide-outs on the coast. The Weinstein Stages are covered very neatly in Colin's site In a nutshell ... using landlubber terms ... Stage 1 is the flat desert before Stage 2 which is the climb up Mount Everest before Stage 3 which is turbulence in the mountain peaks and Stage 4 is the sometimes rapid slide down to base camp back on the desert floor at stage 1. All stocks are said to go through this major price cycle. We are on the look out for those that have been flat for a long time (Stage 1) and now starting to head up the steep Stage 2 slope ... Some say this occurs when the 15 day moving average crosses the 30 day moving average and remains above it even in retracements. So we are refining our Stage 2 list and when the current problem with clogged bilges is sorted out we may be fit for racing. At the moment there is argument about which are our best racing sails. Obviously we need to be ready to face such a tough challenge as you and your crew will offer. Out of interest shorting Stage 4 (falling stocks) in down markets is said to be as interesting and profitable as buying Stage 2 rising stocks Evidence in support of this in this last week is that twice as many ASX 100 stocks fell by over 1% as rose by over 1% The top 20 that fell (if my numbers are right) went down by an average of 6.4% in the week while the top 22 that rose went up by only 2.4% so short positions in the main movers dropped more than 2 and half times faster than the the main risers rose. No wonder you had a few wet sails. Those numbers were affected by a big drop in one stock ... ALL Disregarding ALL the other 19 top fallers averaged a drop of 5.5% still more than double the rising percentage of the top 22 risers. You can see that trading short on those sorts of numbers should produce double the results of going long ... the only catch is knowing in advance which ones are going to fall most ... That little trick is still eluding us ... Are we ready for a challenge? ... Not quite yet, but give us some time to scrape our barnacles and who knows? With Best Wishes Admiral of the Imperial Fleet, Claudius
