CC You make like to consider FEA, BPC, and UEC( not a lot of volume yet) for sails next week. Have a great weekend all. Perfect weather here in Melbourne, but not for gold or silver sails unfortunately. Cheers SusieQ

Aye aye Captn and crew, I thought the Doctor may be with us this afternoon but not to be. You can just feel the whole market wants to leap ahead but the bighead landlubbers are holding the breeze at bay - not that we're allowed any feelings in our trading of course! Is the Incredulous still holding VRE (I am) as it came back somewhat today? Ah yes Julles...someone mentioned just then about RED's resource upgrade (I would never look myself of course)which explains why RED came back a little late in the day. Ah well tis the weekend and Julles has promised to make us Bl*#dy Marys for Sundowners this evening! I'm off to Bribie Island to taste some real salt air tomorrow if I don't get washed overboard by the current drenching happening. Glasses raised all, AB Waddsie

Ahoy Officer Scalpie Great to see you on deck after meeting you at our great night at the Captains table You are a truly brave officer and pirate sailing the JRV Have you checked where the decimal point is? I have bad memories but times are a changing and maybe the Captain should survey her charts again and catch up She must have something going for her when an officer of your calibre raises her sail? Avagoodweekend all We couldh've donew'll but we didn't Ahoy Entertainment Officer SusieQ and cheer leader on the spectator fleet The Captain hesitated on the FEA and the APL this week Nicola called into my cabin and I had them penciled in When things look grim the Captain has always known that that class of sail always seem do well in bad sea and weather conditions So why did the Captain freeze up at the helm? I can only say The "Pressure" we Captains must face at sea to be sea-ready at all times is AWESOME and I have no excuse OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!
Sometimes I wish I had the Landlubbers sweet FA excuses for never making a mistake We know them all too well Some of us sailors still refer to them nowadays when we should all really be in prayer or work the decks a little harder (Message edited by captain_chaza on January 16, 2004)

Ah Captain, yes have checked where the decimal point is, and are a few points ahead at the moment, was going to close out on the bell, but there were a few braver than me buying at higher prices so will wait and see where we shall sail on the opening. Unusual for me to hold overnight, had my percentage within half an hour, but now Mrs Scalper is home full time, have to get a few bigger notches under the belt. JRV might be a bit dodgy, but i like to get lost with the crowd so my orders are easily filled (16.5% of shares on issue traded today), i like to buy in volume and have my for sale sign posted on the screen in case of trouble, not good at holding course overnight. Talk about dodgy, in the chairmans charts he mentions the Nickel resource has an "in ground" value in excess of 31 billion dollars. You have to ask yourself for a company capted at $7m what does it cost to get out. There's been plenty run aground on those rocks. However they have raided the treasure chests in recent times so may not need to collect any more sovereigns to pay the electricity bills. Who cares anyway, we do not need to know how or why the wind blows, but only in which direction, and know when to hold'em, and when to fold'em, probably about 10.03am Mon if you blokes get on board. Cheers Scalper

Ahoy Sea-Cadet-Officer Bookie 2 I once wrote "In the open sea and when sailing against the All Ordinaries one of the warmest pleasures comes from sighting another ship. Passing greetings make as warm a welcome as any reunion with one’s best friend. Instantly the ocean feels less hostile." This assumes that they are of the same size and under a similar set of sails If it is otherwise then they may be getting ready to tack and you may end up going in the wrong direction and find yourself with any help far out of reach Watching other skippers at work is the secret we all TA sailors know and learn to act instinctively without "too much" hesitation We can't pick the start or finish of a great sailing season but we do watch each other's actions closer than is the case in any other sport Hence I was upset when I read NON-comparative comparisons EG The ASX verses the USA markets If size was a comparative instrument then did you know the total size of all the shares on the ASX is the same size as GE (General Electrics) alone Of course if you did a search for any set of criteria in the USA you might get more than 100 times the search results Good luck Too many for this simple Captain to survey I only commented re the NON-Comparison of BHP and Amazon It's like comparing a long distance runner to a sprinter It's like comparing a share on the Nasdaq to one on the DOW It's like comparing a mum and dad's stationary dividend yielding stock to a growth /risk strategy Unfortunately as we all know those supposedly stationary pilot ships can't keep it up sometimes and can go SE at a greater rate than the Fools gold It seems that all sails have developed an individuality nowadays Those incompetent Captains S&P have now stuffed up our Material Indeceis to no end and rendered them useless Individual Comparisons are now pointless Group comparisons are always much more comfortable but mean little nowadays with the Individual nature of each sail Captain Stupid and Captain Poor have grouped the Golds ,Base metals, Building materials and Chemical materials into one grey easy to make mistakes sheet One simple chart that shows nothing If one wanted to fool the mums and dads and force them to use a full brokerage service I might understand why the ASX supported this stupid tack as it would support all the ASX partners in crime Selling and hustling by confusion has always worked in that past in that industry as in most others I hope you now understand why I feel that comparisons are rendered useless nowadays EVEN Twin Sister ships like CBA and NAB move out of sequence BHP and RIO are out of step with the Oil interests in BHP NCM and LHG are out of step Looking at the few examples above you must agree with me that we can't even compare sister ships anymore Similar size /similar class It sounds very depressing at first but the GOOD thing is that the tougher it gets the better TA works and the quicker we learn the hard way the faster we can get our ships to sail NE Hope this helps you to understand my thinking re comparative analysis Captain Chaza

I toast the comradeship I have found in this forum I toast the fact that I have much to learn I toast to you my friends, because you are! Still I have half a glass to go so give me a minute. I toast the very fact that we can share (technology isn't it wonderful) I toast the fact that tomorrow I do'nt have to trade if I do'nt want to because I'm in the money for this week Just me , Julles

Jules, Hope everything is working out with your daughter at Uni, love to see ya posts, they make my day a lot brighter. JRV was my best trade for the past 12mths. 41% for a total holding time of 51 minutes, 1/3rd of my budget for the month.(normal profit target 1-3%) Years ago i lost a lot on the pennies,1) because of holding on 2) not understanding that it is not a level playing field, and that people do have the inside running on news before it is released, as in the case of JRV. The insiders were buying on friday from 1.4c and selling on Monday with the announcement at up to 2.5c while those buying at up to 2.5c lost their shirts when it closed at 1.9c. You have to be sceptical to make money in this area, and play on this insider running when you can see it being played out. Hope you run continues Cheers Scalper

Julles, Alert..alert..confusion! Julles, there's another one of you, another Julie, on the forum just to confuse us. Standby for confusion. Your Username spelt with two 'L's, hers with one. Julles and Jules!...and she asks good questions! Just distracting everyone from watching RED! Wadda

Julles Yes, work is work, bit sorry I am back, found too much in the in-tray. But haven't quite worked out how to make enough money to make a living from trading, so be it. Am reduced to checking my stocks at lunchtime and after work, not the same as watching the action or lack of, unfold in front of you. AVN moved up again today- woohoo !! Candles are still bullish, maybe a retrace tomorrow but I think this has a little more to run yet. How was your day away from the office? Hope you did something relaxing, away from the galley. No doubt ship's leave will be over tomorrow cheers SusieQ
