Review of the aim and purpose of group meetings and agenda for 15 May 2004. Our regular fortnightly Saturday group meetings are a place for learning, analysis and exchange of ideas related to the financial market. The meeting format is a blend of technical analysis and fundamental analysis to a degree where we endeavour to use both TA and FA for individuals to set up a framework to suit their investment/trading style in order to profit from the market. It is not intended that this group is a mini ATAA and one can not envisage that it ever will be that. The position of chairperson for a meeting is always open for everyone in the group and participants are encouraged to take the opportunity to set the agenda and run a meeting on a rotational basis. Internal presentations as well as participation by external presenters/speakers are also encouraged. As is the case with most groups, which are run on a voluntary basis, one must be prepared not only to receive but also to contribute to the meetings and to share the workload by continuing to enhance the standard of the meeting agenda. The old saying; “one get as much out of these meetings as one is prepared to put into them” is also very true. We welcome additional group members who are prepared to share investment, trading and other related knowledge for the benefit of the group as a whole. Investing and trading can be a solitude ‘occupation’ and our meetings can be a forum for interaction with other likeminded and active market participants. Where the main aim of our group is not that of being a “social club” it is an added bonus that members seem to enjoy the company of others and the friendly tone and lively chatting in the coffee break is a good indication of this. We are very fortunate to have the use of excellent meeting facilities made available to us on very favourable terms. The meeting room has now been secured for our regular fortnightly meetings for the rest of calendar year 2004. There is no entry fee charged for attending meetings. As previously discussed we will talk about the setting up and selection of a ‘hypothetical’ share portfolio designed for longer term capital growth and attractive dividend income at our next meeting. It is the intention that we spend a restricted amount of time at our regular future meetings reviewing and tracking the shares in the portfolio by the use of both TA & FA. More details on the company selection and tracking process as well as entry and exit events will be debated at the next meeting. How well we fare and our success as ‘stock pickers’ will be measured against a commonly used Index. The aim of this exercises it to enhance our investment skills. This is not only for those who currently have a portfolio either inside or outside a SMSF, but also for those who are planning to set up a future portfolio or self manage their superannuation. Our next meeting is scheduled for 15 May at 9am to ~ noon at the usual venue. Any IC readers who may wish to participate at future meetings please send a private message to GreatDane for venue details etc. ----------------------------------------------------- 15 May agenda items: 1.
