Ahoy Mighty Crew! I am not drunk, or overboard, as you may have presumed! The Captain has had me locked below deck fixing the logs. I have attached the latest incarnation of them and would appreciate any feedback you may have! SCO Brains

Excellant work variable. I think i might adopt your color scheme for my own The only bug i can see is stocks like CUY. This would have been sold in one batch and charged 1 brokerage unit. It gets a little messier when we sell half our holdings in a stock. Then we need to split the buy and remember what we've done.

Ahoy Dave! I didnt even think about that with selling multiple parcels. I suppose I could set up a brokerage over-ride for just such an occasion. I am working on a Portfolio manager of sorts at the moment, Officer Hershy was asking about it and I was wondering why i didnt have one - now i know, they are a bugger to build. It is going gangbusters now tho, with any luck it will be finished in another week or so, which will line up nicely with the arrival of my trading capital! As for the colours, save your compliments for the Captain. I scuttled my unweidly sheet and automated his. I have the full version if you would like it? i removed all the formulas from the public version as it reduces it by 90% in size Thanks for the compliment on something I didnt do tho, I will accept it until the Captain shows up to put a stop to it! variable/SCO Brains/"Incredulous" reception

Lol Variable. You're telling me !!!. I gave up with it in excel quite a long time ago, although i keep meaning to get back to it. Just when you think you've got it nailed something you haven't thought of pops up. Dividends, Capital returns, bonus share issues, bonus company offers, splits and accumulations. The list is endless and most ( if not all) upset the balance of ANY portfolio program. This was the crap that i deleted out of the one i sent you a few weeks ago. I just sent Starboard a list of all these anomolies to help fine tune his new instruments ( took me bloody ages to get). Is it any wonder that accountants get paid so much money.

Evening Davedagr8 Apologies for butting in but have noticed your comment about a portfolio manager. Might I suggest you have a look at a product called Trade Trakker. It costs $19.95 (US I expect) and comes with a free trial period. It will handle multiple portfolios/Exchanges including ASX.It was suggested to me and I am trialling it at the moment. Cheers HBD

Hello Hbeedee Does this program have allowances for GST ? For those who want an Aussie program, try the free download and 60 day trial of Top share from http://www.topshare.com.au/ It costs $149 but seems pretty good.
The road to success is usually under construction. http://members.optusnet.com.au/~hershy/

Thanks Hershy I'll have a look at Topshare. I'm a big believer in buying Aussie Made when I can. Don't know about the GST as I haven't looked that closely as yet to be honest. And again being honest I can see no reason for re-inventing the wheel. Unless you are an inventor and I am not. Maybe Davedagr8 is though and I would not try to insult him by saying it is too hard for him.Sorry if I did, Davedagr8 Cheers HBD Actually it was Chris Tate who mentioned Trade Trakker. He said he uses it. He was a speaker at a function I was at not so long ago

Ahoy HBD, No offence taken. I am not an inventor by choice, i just have trouble finding things that suit my purpose, then and only then will i set about making it. Unfortunately No commercial portfolio management program suits me or my trading style, which sux. If only they did a few simple things, like talk to databases or excel !!!! Grrrrrrr

Ahoy! Updated logs Only 1 spreadsheet change this week, the introduction of a true price comparison versus the xao - this is as opposed to the highly flattering, but highly incorrect comparison of the trophy cabinet versus the xao There is also a full fat version of this (which doesnt have the formulas missing, i do that as it shrinks it considerably) if you would like it, either post here or message me and i will make it available (1.9MB) SCO Brains
