Sailing for Fun

A "Sailing for Fun" thread ('Pending the Admiral's approval???)
can be provided for those who wish to practice their seamanship skills without getting wet. Also, if you are under the age of 18 (as determined by your registration information), you will not be allowed to play at all

Sailors for real money can still Sail for Fun.
In this mode you must deposit virtual money into your Sail for Fun account and buy V-Chips (electronic cash) but no real money exchanges hands.

"The First Time you Sail For Fun! "

So you're here for the first time and you want to Go a sailing on the ASX but you're not sure how to begin.

The first thing to do is relax and I will take you step by
step through the rest.

Assume for the moment that you have a ship and you're successfully logged into Sailing for Fun

Since you have no chips you cannot sail without money,
Our goal is make sure you get some chips for free!

Step1: Deposit Virtual Money (max. $25k)

Our objective here is to deposit "play" money into your account.

Step 2: Buy Virtual Chips (V-Chips)

After you deposit virtual money for the first time you will find a message $25k in credit:

Return to the Start and Start Sailing.

Sailing for fun is a game of skill. The challenge is to gather and analyze as much information as you can about a sail, weigh the probabilities of each winning and subsequently compare your opinion to the market.

Make the right judgment and you win.

It's as simple as that.

While luck may be a deciding factor in the outcome of any single tack, and will inevitably go against you on occasion, it will balance out in the long run.

Hmm?

Being a consistent winner in any sports betting is not about luck but whether you are prepared to invest the time and effort to become knowledgeable about the sports you bet on, whether you can weigh all the factors in a cool, objective fashion, and whether you adopt a consistent, disciplined, long-term approach to your betting/investing.

Do all these and you will come out a winner.
Hmmm!

Remember, it's you against the rest

Salute for now

PS My crew can still receive their real orders by private forum- no one knows if we are playing for fun, or investment.

And that's how it should be - it's no one's business.

If you could get the technicals and paperwork running, that would be a fine way to cover all bases, and at the same time, introduce a new element into life aboard this Incredible Forum

The Good ship Incredulous would still exist, but the "Virtual" ship, (play money version) would simply be a clone of the real one and will sail under the cover of darkness.

I think something original and good could come out of this,Ads?

I was thinking
Everyone gets credited with $25,000 at dawn each Monday

A white Heavyweight costs $20
A blue Storm sail costs $15k
A green Jib sail Costs $10k
A red Spinnaker costs $5k
A pink Ghoster costs $2.5k

Only the Open and Closes can be used during the week
This would protect the novice sea-cadet against the false security re Overnite Gaps and Intra-day Gaps

What do you all think?

Bon Voyage and Gods speed

Charles,
I thought this was going to be a private forum. Have you changed your mind?

Regards,
Colin

Colin,

As far as i understand it, the private forum will be where the incredulous trades are posted.

What the captain is suggesting is a competition amongst IC members. Enter your picks, cross your fingers and compare yourself against anyone else who cares to join. People would be free to provide analysis or reasons or not.

Perhaps this is just what this forum needs. There's been a lot of testostorone flying around lately and maybe this will burn it up in a more positive way.

Of course there's always a chance the idea can crash and burn, but we're all risk takers here aren't we.

Dave,

There is an existing competition -- I am sure that you would be welcome to join.

Regards,
Colin
