Hi Spider, My first meeting was informative and interesting. Being able to discuss various trading issues with fellow traders was certainly an enlightening experience. Some suggestions re future meetings -: 1. Have you considered using a class room ?. The main attraction in using a class room would be the use of the white/black board. Various trading strategies and technical analysis of individual shares could be better illustrated and followed by the group as a whole via a white/black board. 2. Would Sunday morning meetings( say 10.am-11.am start) be a better alternative or alternate between Wednesday and Sunday so that those members who cannot attend on a Wednesday night might find Sunday meetings more suitable. Cheers Vermante

Yo vermante, Your classroom suggestion is a good one and if the venue we are after at the moment falls through, I will persue it with vigor. Your Sunday meeting suggestion is also a good one. We have had one meeting on a Sunday arvo. It went very well, and I take your point about some people not being able to make it on a Wednesday. We picked Wednesday as it is the one night of the week that most venues are available, as this is an uncommon night for regular commitments. Those of us that trade full time find the weekends are precious, and a time for other things, but we are in the minority, so if a venue can be suggested, I am sure that a Sunday meeting would be very well attended. Let us know what you think people, do you have a definite venue? Would you like to attend a Sunday meeting on a regular basis? spider.

Sunday morning is a great suggestion. Still leaves plenty of the weekend free. say from 10 am. Many hotels have conference rooms with classroom facilities so that could also be a viable option. Cheers

All members of our group need to know that, if it were not for the untiring efforts of Bill (williamat) we would not be able to enjoy the delights of our new venue at Eastern. Well done Bill, and thank you on behalf of all of us. spider.

We have not heard from most of the Eastern Suburbs group re Wednesday's meeting. If you are able to attend, please let us know ASAP as we have to confirm numbers. If you cannot make it please let us know also, so that we can confirm that the information is getting through. Some members have not been heard from for two months, and we do not want to keep pestering people who are no longer able to attend meetings. hope you had a great trading week. Be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!

Hi Terry, I have just discovered that my post re Wed. night did not make it to FORUM. I shan't dwell on my puzzlement. It read something like this: Thanks for your help in arranging a potential regular venue for our gatherings. They appear to be very willing to help us and the meeting aids available will make us comfortable. One thing I seem to have overlooked is to advise that as the numbers grow the less cost per head. I look forward to meeting again on Wed.. Seeing charts on the screen will sure be a great step forward in our education process. I have seen it working in another environment. Cheers Bill.

Wednesday night saw the Eastern Suburbs Traders group at the Eastern golf club. This was our first time at this venue, and we were treated very well by Michael the duty manager. What an excellent venue, heaps of space, privacy, a spectacular view, and good facilities. On the technical side, we were lucky to have the use of a projector and laptop loaded with charts, provided by "myklan", who has been elevated to 'legend' status. We would be talking about a specific share, and suddenly Michael would have it up on the wall. This facility added a special dimension to the evening. We had several 'apologies' and a couple 'missing in action', which thinned out our numbers a bit. One of the topics for the evening was to discuss three different trading strategies, this generated some lively discussion, particularly after 'scalper' shared his trading strategy with us. As always, I was amazed by the variety of ways people have of approaching the market. All approaches being valid and successful to one degree or another, every person in the room had seen their strategy be successful at one time or another, and all of us were looking to refine and improve our approach. Some of us were looking to add extra 'strings' to out bows. Others were looking to knock the kinks out of their systems. Some felt held back by the costs of trading (spider could identify with that one). There was an excellent discussion on 'trading to your sleep level'. I was touched by people's honesty about their experiences, I was also touched by the groups acceptance of these confidences. One of our members has trading experiences going back to before the '87 crash. His input was invaluable. As always, indicators got a good going over, MACD got a lot of positive votes. We had two day traders in our midst, I found their style and experiences to be fascinating as this is outside my expertise. I wasn't the only one who got a buzz out of listening to them. Our time went by very quickly, it seemed. Mind you, there were some interesting discussions on the way to, and in the car park. I thought Bill and I could talk, but as I left 'mbes' and 'seahound' were still going strong! Getting to the venue was relatively easy for most, but there has been special permission given for 'williamat' and 'susieq' to turn up late, as they have the most difficult run. This meeting was crammed with generous, intelligent people, and it was a pleasure for me to be a part of it. Our next meeting is on the last Wednesday in April. spider.

Hi Spider, Really good account of your meeting - After cramming round my screen for the Adelaide meeting, I can see why you elevated Mklan to Legend status - a projector would prove useful at our meetings. It is a shame that there is such a distance between us because I would have loved to have listened to your groups trading experiences, especially those on day trading. As you rightly say, the time passes much to quickly at these sessions but the knowledge gained in such a short time is priceless. All the best for you next meeting. Al

Yo blue_chap, the offer is always there, any time you are in Melbourne, let us know and we will scrape together some dudes (and dudettes) and get together to talk trading. Hopefully, one day I can get back to Adelaide (my son lived there for a while). I love your city, beautiful place, friendly people. spider.
