Daily data for ETFs such as BEAR is available. We have given our data suppliers a "hurry up" on the intra-day updates, but this may still take a few more days.

Just to correct you. This is not a new data provider. They have reliably provided US and forex data for some time, but seem to be experiencing a few issues with the ASX feed. Didn't wish to disturb your weegend, but there appears to be a glitch with loading ... a 404 error "timed out" message part way through the process.

Kick in in the teeth and it goes away and the IC software does load ... fast.

ASX Indexes Opening Price(Daily and Intraday)

I know its been an issue of contention in the past BUT it still hasn't been resolved. No way in any world markets does the previous closing price always become the opening price for the next day ... So why are you accepting that this is the actual(and acceptable)case for our (Indexes) markets especially when all the stocks that make up these Indexes have CORRECT opening prices?

Just imagine how much more accurate your TMF(and many other indicators on I.C.) would be with ACCURATE data.

Also, I note now(since the recent change in Data provided)that some, not all US Indexes, have a separate bar for the closing price. I know there is an option within the I.C. software to elect to show or hide these("Out_of_Hours_Trading" drop-down) BUT selecting any of the options provided do 'diddly_squat'

Hi Dolphin,

ASX indices have the same opening price as the previous day's close. Norgate Premium Data used to provide a separate open calculated from the staggered opening prices of individual stocks, but they can no longer get this. They contacted S&P but the answer was that the official opening price is equal to the close of the previous day.

Hour and minute charts, however, still reflect the unofficial "staggered" open.

We will investigate whether anything can be done with the "out-of-hours" closing bars on DJ Indices. The problem with Dow Jones is that the indices cover an array of different time zones, so we can't apply a strict out-of-hours rule. But we will see what can be done.

Colin ... to be blunt, that's just rubbish.

Almost every free chart service from Yahoo to investing.com manages to show the accurate Open price ... as a flashed number, even if it is not reflecting in some of their charts.

And your hourly and minutes charts STILL do NOT show that number, despite your claim that they do.

Your Hourly and minute data might still refect the unofficial "staggered" open BUT mine sure hell doesn't(see chart below). Although, I do admit, very occasionally the minute data shows a slight GAP on open on a few days but I thought that was ONLY because there was an adjustment to the previous day's closing price ... hence it still opens at the "closing" price.


I look forward to hearing about the results of your investigation re: the US Indices.

Thanks for pointing this out.

The applications algorithm that pads intra-day data is throwing an exception for Australian data.

I suspect this is most probably related to the early close today. Generally such issues correct themselves the next day.

It appears this issue is only going to resolve on Monday, being the next trading day.

I've found and fixed the issue in the alpha release of IncredibleCharts that will become the next beta release, so the code will be a little more robust in handling these sorts of issues once I get the next beta release out.

Robin, I have been trying to get a startup log for you to diagnose why it is taking 25 seconds or so to load charts, even to go back one to a chart I have just been viewing.

I have followed your emailed instructions but simply get a list of items about Incredible Charts in either Bing or Google.

When I try to report this I keep getting a message from your postmaster saying "user is overquota". What is the next step?

Thanks for that Colin. $DJI I see is now correct but at the time of my previous post (well after the market closed) it was the only index of the 3 I look at(SPX, NASDAQ and DOW) that had an obvious data entry glitch.

I've had similar problems except that $DJI has been the only one working properly out of the three indicies. Submitted a support request and received the same response as Dolphin but it seems to me that there has been random data leaks through random cracks in the system. Wish I had have kept my mouth shut and still be getting sneaky $DJI data. Suggested to support and will suggest again here that some of the time stamps get tidied up on the IC charts before the next update/upgrade. Following screenshot taken aprox 1:58pm , Aug 9 US time.

Hi Colin ... For some unknown reason my US Hourly data has stopped updating and actually know only shows chart data up to the 10th of July, 2017.

I have 'refreshed'(reloaded I.C. + turned P.C. off + F5) on two P.C's I am currently using to no effect.

Is there anything else I can try?

The Sydney server was playing up and is turned off, so that can't be the cause. Try charting AAPL and use Ctrl + F5 to refresh the data history.

If that doesn't fix the problem, send us a support ticket with a startup log:

  • Close the charts immediately after you experience the problem
  • Open a Support Request
  • Use the Browse button on the form to navigate to Local disk C: >> Program Files >> Incredible Charts >> Debug
  • Select ic_startup (.log) and attach by clicking the Open button
  • Submit the support request
  • Restart the charts if the problem does not prevent this.

Hi Colin ... Sorry for late response; been out all day. Did however sent a support ticket as suggested only to then read your last posting that explained exactly what I was referring to. SO please get support to IGNORE my request.

Shame, real shame, that you no longer offer Hourly data for the US Indicies ... They are of far more use to me than Hourly data for US Equities. BUT that's just me...

Anyway, thanks for the quick response and follow_up..

Hi Dolphin,

Unfortunately they introduced a per user charge for delayed data that amounted to about a 500% price increase. We can't even pass this cost on to the few users who wouldn't mind paying the extra for intra-day index data -- there is a minimum charge equivalent to more than a thousand users.

Only a monopoly could get away with it :-(

Thanks Colin for the explanation. Understandable under those circumstances. I guess it 'highlights' the significance and importance of Indicies intraday data(you want it you pay for it) v's stocks intraday data(free included)from the data supplier's perspective.

Oh well, I guess Dolphin will have to persevere with another chart package source for live intraday data for those indicies.

Does anyone know if the Incrediblecharts data server has been fixed yet?

There hasn't been an email about this since yesterday.

Is it just my equipment/connection or is everyone having the same problem?

Is anyone else having difficulty uploading(showing)any data for $XJO and $XAO in any saved chart project since our close of markets here in OZ.

ATM I can't even open the default project as it can't upload data for $XAO even if I refresh, re-load I.C. or re-boot either of my 2 P.C.'s that I have I.C. on. It just gives a blank chart with the $XAO heading at the top.

I have even tried to go via the "search" icon or type in $xao_ax in the "enter security code" window to no avail. It thus prevents me from viewing any stocks saved as I note the "File" icon only shows "exit I.C." command when opened. The only way I can bring up any stocks is to go via my saved watchlists and all those stocks are AOK ... but not $XAO/$XJO. As soon as I try to view these via the watchlist I get the same result.

Are you aware of this issue, Colin or am I the only one with it or it has not been reported.

It may resolve itself overnight but if not I'd be in-touch....

There are problems with the latest beta version.

Missing / empty charts on Beta

If Help >> About shows Build 10.1.0.6, please revert to the standard version. Depending on how you upgraded will depend on how you revert.

If you upgraded by selecting Help >> Upgrade to Latest Beta Version:

Select Help >> Revert to Standard Version
A live update will run "to correct your version" and confirm once completed.
Select Yes, Continue, Allow or OK as needed
Open Incredible Charts as normal
If it offers to update the software: select Remind Me Later

If you upgraded from a "Live Update" prompt when Incredible Charts opened or manually from our website, you will need to close Incredible Charts then download & install over the existing version.

Thanks for advising this issue "was at your end" ...

FYI, actually for others with the same Beta version(10.1.0.6), If you upgraded from a "Live Update" prompt when Incredible Charts opened or manually from our website, you will need to close Incredible Charts then download & install over the existing version.

DON'T FORGET to ignore(say No Thanks)the option to update to Beta version 10.1.0.6 when you re-download and install over the existing version.

Otherwise you will be back to where you started ... won't be able to open up data!
