Hello

I think there's a strong chance the US Dollar will drop in the next few months.

What is the best way for me to short the USD?

I know with shares you can buy a put option, if you think it will drop.

If I bought a put option on the USD, but it was denominated in USD, it would be useless to an Australian. The value of the option drops (in AUD) when the currency drops.

Can you buy a call option on the AU Dollar (in AUD) vs US Dollar?

Do you guys have any ideas????

Thanks!

Hi Tom

If you open an account with oanda.com you can trade the currencies. It is US based and I use it. I find it great. You can take a position of $1.00 if you like. Great to learn and the brokerage is a % of the trade.

Chris

Tom9876543,

You said: " I think there's a strong chance the US Dollar will drop in the next few months... "

How come ? Where from should come such a .... "chance" ???

Because of the OIL PRICE "RAISED FROM THE DEAD "- to 150 USD the barrel till July 2008, and 200 USD a barrel till the end of the year - by Goldman Sachs & Co ???

Hi

All you have to do is look at the long term AUD/USD chart, and its obvious the AUD is in an up trend.

Also the US FED has shown they are weak and won't raise US interest rates.

On the other hand there's a reasonable chance the RBA will raise rates here. Another reason the USD will drop....
