An Australian company that appears to be going from strength to strength. Maybe one I will consider for my long-term portfolio.

Matrix Composites & Engineering is a leading engineering company providing critical, engineered product solutions for the offshore, subsea, mineral processing, military and manufacturing industries. Matrix specialises in the design, application and manufacturing of products based on advanced composite materials, engineering plastics and elastomers. Matrix designs and manufactures high performance products through its oil & gas, mineral & industrial and advanced materials businesses. Matrix is an Australian based company that services the international market via a global network of agents, distributors and subsidiaries. Matrix currently exports to 37 countries.

Well 4 months on and the stock as increased a further 45%. I bought into the stock when the price rose above the previous high on the 13th May.

The news below had been given to the market on the 9th August - which is highlighted by the light blue ellipse. As you can see on the chart the volume has increased significantly recently.

Well done DTM. Not sure how you identified this one but it looks like a good Weinstein fit. Nice break in the Relative Strength and a big volume surge to back it up. An no overhead resistance to constrain it either. That long candle on Monday 16th doesn't look that scary now.

MCE

Best of luck

There was recently an MCE share purchase plan at $8.50/share. On the closing day of 5th May, the high for the day was $7.89, yet according to the MCE notice to the ASX, the offer was 80% subscribed.

Why would anyone take up the SPP when you could buy cheaper on market (and still can)?

Any ideas?

Cheers
Sway

From what I understand, there's a belief that if you get in early then you are more likely to get your allocation, not true I know.... Also, when the SP launched MCE was trading well in excess of the $8.50/share. Also there was probably the belief that if you wanted to get any at the bargain price then you'd subscribe for the maximum amount possible. It could also be that some people are just very organised and when they receive the paper work they send it off straight away. Who'd of thought it would go so low when the SP was launched?

What I find of interest is the way the share price has taken off since the offer closed. (Aint complaining as I bought a trading parcel at $7.89). If I was cynical I might think that it might be some of the instos pushing the share price back up so they can offload.

Wonder whether $8.50 or so might be a ceiling for a little while. Sold mine TP earlier today at $8.39.

cheers

Thanks cat lady, yes that would be an explanation. I'm glad the SPP and insto placement is out of the way. The close of $8.56 is the high for the day, week and month to date, so next week should be interesting.

Cheers Sway
