I'd like to resubmit POH as my entry for 2011, I'm expecting good things this year as the focus has now shifted to commercialization.

Hi Boomer
POH is an interesting choice, I too have a small shareholding in this business and interestingly I'm now working for the business in my capacity as a branding designer on the commercialisation of the anti-fat peptide project. If POH does launch and market this project well the potential is truly huge. Launch should be around second quarter 2011. I encourage readers to have a read through some of the available info on POH, it's speculative but could be a three or four bagger easily.

Elizabeth I'm on holiday at present but will get my 2011 selection on the thread by next week.

peterloh REY L

REY has consolidated for 12 months and then breakout. It looks like it is in Weinstein stage 2. It is in the much favour sector coal, and it product thermal coal is in great demand. Since a share placement at 20c, REY SP has been going strong and an anticipated retracement on a Fibonacci level of 38% never eventuated, thus I understand the share price of REY is performing extremely well. I like the volume of late and REY is likely to b a star performer for year 2011.

Elisabeth BRW L

BRW has been basing for two years – it may continue to do so in 2011, but recent sustained volume over several weeks shows that there is more than a little interest in this stock. Furthermore volume was very strong in the last two (traditionally quiet) weeks, closing above the strong resistance at 10c for the first time last Friday.

Primary target is around 25c, but I think the stock has the potential to reach the 35-40c area by the end of this year.

Elizabeth,

BRW also just recently had an SPP at 7.4c.

I am currently up 42% from that. Small absolute changes in this are large percentages. I'm holding to see what happens.

Just throwing this out there - what if we could put in 2 entries if we had two candidates? (I had a hard time choosing from my four finalist stocks.) The table might get a little longer if we get many participants - at the moment we have 9 - but I can't see that as a problem. Thoughts?

p3t3 AKM L :

Metallurgical coal explorer/producer in Mongolia - on China's doorstep. Needs further discoveries and rail infrastructure construction to really move - and rail construction takes time, even for the Chinese.

Might be more of a three year than a one year pick, but should eventually attract support.

For now the mid-BB is providing support, suggesting rally strength. That view supported by the W%R14 failing to reach oversold (-80) on the correction.

DOLPHIN, NAV, L

One day late(P.C. issues) and now 6.67% higher but I'll still go with NAV as both Technically and Fundamentally she's building up steam to hopefully reached 52.5c by late May(blue line) or even $1.00 by year's end(green line), i.e. if my "chrystal-ball" gazing is on the ball!

Technically, she gave a Wkly TAZ set-up and confirmation 3/4 weeks ago; coming from its good conglomeration of Structural supports near 21c(horizontal, shorter-term uptrend channel and MA's); now all MA's are rising and widening and we have the dominant candle of the week Dec13th. controlling and support its recent move.

Fundamentally, she's in two of the fastest moving 'sectors', GOLD and RRE's but has inexplicably 'lagged' her counterpart group partners plus shes in no current need for cash raising for further exploration as she's "self-funded" by her Gold interests.

Two charts submitted here, the first showing the current Technical picture and supports the next the "chrystal ball" view showing her "mapped-out" perfect course for the year????

Chart 1/.....

Chart 2/....

Thanks to Elizabeth here for "running" the show again this year and I think making monday the 10th versus the end of Jan. as the cut-off start date far more realistic and manageable.

Cheers and may we all have smiles on our faces come Dec. 2011.

I'm picking this simply based on recent price rise with volume, and today's pullback. And I own some myself.

Happy New Year everyone and I hope you all have a successful trading year.

BRM looks like it wants to holds its present support at $4.85 as some indicators suggest this or maybe it has to come all the way back to near $4.00 before resuming its major uptrend.

Hi Sway, this comp is annual - the pick you make this week is the one that stays until the end of 2011. The one at the top then, is the winner. Just a bit of fun - 12 months is a long time, especially in trading!

You have until Monday pre open to post a pick. Entry price will be as per the first post in this thread.

Everyone is most welcome to take a punt

jaded SHD L

This should go into Production this year or very nearly.
SHD could be a Major Iron Ore producer out of the Nth Territory. It has taken over old BHP tenements from the 1950's.BHP went instead to the Pialbra but these tenements showed Significant Promise. It was just that there was No Infrastructure [same as the Pialbra]
Now there's a NT rail line and Port along with an encouraging Gov't willing to 'fast track' such development.

So SHD could be an 'emerger' and suitable for a one year Hold.

happy trading

SDL

More and more provinces in India are beginning to restrict iron ore exports for reallocation to domestic use.

This will add further pressure to iron ore prices, especially at a time when China is about to accelerate their demand for the mineral!

We will see more and more of this in 2011 as the international iron ore price rises!

When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.

Hi Espresso, thanks for joining in the comp. There's no C and GTC in this comp, it's simply price as of Dec 31 2011 vs price this week on the day you pick. You can be L or S. Let me know if that's not OK, or if you want to change stock, otherwise I have you in FMS at 16.5c.

Entry closes before start of trade this coming Monday, and picks on the weekend and Monday morning will have Friday's close as start price.

Dear Elisabeth.

Thanks for all your effort
Best of luck to all competitors.

My choice PRR L

Wanted to get away from much vaunted Resources, probably prematurely.

Bio med - cancer vaccine test -2nd stage of tests approved in US [FDA] and funded by well regarded and choosey investment fund -possible US listing well down the track -beyond this comp anyway.

Lots of "pie in the sky???"

Technically, monthly chart shows long period of Bollinger Band squeeze [i.e. stagnation] and has now started a follow through rise [hopefully.] Huge resistance around 60-70c.

Hi Elizabeth

Lucky_Phil SEA L

Thank you for your efforts last year and for taking this on again

SEA has been a consistent performer in a beaten down segment of late. Given ongoing growth in China and building recovery in the US and other Western countries there is potential for strong growth in oil demand over the coming year as supply continues to contract. This should be good for SEA.

Good luck all for the coming year

Hi Elisabeth
As much as I would like to see UNX continue parabolically, a year is a long time for a stock like this.

Instead I am picking another stock that I own.
Sway MCE L

MCE hasn't put a foot wrong since it listed just over a year ago. The company made profit from the outset, has paid 2 dividends already, is opening a new factory etc.

OK, that's enough FA. MCE's chart tells the real story.

MCE

One of the things I both like and dislike about IC is the auto-scaling of the price axis. In this case, auto-scaling shows an interesting repeating pattern:

Each of these rises may have had you thinking it was time to sell.
mce1
mce2
mce3

Now looking back at the original chart, what appeared to be massive rises now seem less scary
MCE4

There's enough there to have me optimistic. Besides, breaker_1 pinched SDL before I had a chance!

Good luck to all entrants.

Cheers
Sway

Thanks for your efforts and enthusiasm. Hope I'm not too late. I'm sticking with a large cap again - but one with reasonable fundamentals in the transport infrastructure market. Assuming that the world economy really is recovering Asciano could do very well.

Sorry Elizabeth and competitors, only got back from holiday last night and busy today catching up on everything. If I'm too late no worries but if it's ok with everyone I'll take BDR long as my choice for the year.

Baysider, a year is a long time and I've no problem adding you to the group with last Friday's close as starting price as long as there are no protests. Please don't forget to post your chart and reasoning.

Really sorry for the lateness. I have been a member for a long time and have just gotten back into trading in November... I have continued to read with interest the goings on within IC on a weekly/monthly basis, more so now I am trading again.
Anyways, if there weren't any objection I would like to enter RED. I am happy for the 31 Dec price which was a close of 20c, which is higher than the current price.
I will post a chart if allowed to still enter.
Fundamentals stack up really well and I am hoping for 35c minimum.
I currently hold

Thankyou,
Chart as at 31 Dec.
In a perfect world I would look for a pull back to around 18c, but for the sake of this comp, I am happy to enter early. Ma's all look good, reasonable volume. Will be looking for next leg up end of Jan, when quarterly's come out. Already established and are ready to start pouring gold within the next 3-5 months. Finance in place and money in the bank...
So I like it from a TA ad FA point of view

RED to 31 dec

and current chart, would have got my 18c, still looking for leg up EOM. (I hold this stock)

This hasn't happened to me very often, so I can't resist a bit of back patting:

The MCE holdings in my trading account have just ticked over +100% gain since I bought in September and the bigger parcel in my SMSF are at +91%. Tempting fate I know but ...

MCE

Cheers

Boomers choice POH

Boomers choice POH (also a stock I own) is taking off big time with big volume the last two days. For those interested they might want to have a look at the link attached which was part of the Today Tonight show last night. I'm working on the project in question, branding and packaging and it's certainly generating some excitement! Sounds like there's potential for it to be a takeover target as well for good measure.

Hi Baysider,

I like your work, the packaging looks great, it has a quality/premium look to it.

Body Shaper, anti cellulite cream, is due to go to market at the end of the month. It can be expected to go live, initially via foxtel TVSN. The focus study results have been "stunning" and the build up to the official release is certainly looking robust. The Today Tonight feature has created a huge amount of interest.

POH are also getting a fair bit of press for other Elixia products. Yesterday, Sunday, they had a large advert in the Body & Soul section of the Qld Sunday Mail.

Consumers interested in Body Shaper, anti cellulite, cream can reserve an opportunity to be amongst the first to be able to purchase this product by registering their interest via the Elixia website.

If Body Shaper, anti cellulite, cream does what they are suggesting, and I think it will, (The science behind it is very compelling), it will be very positive for the Company and shareholders alike.

POH's pipeline is huge, with many advanced projects.

Transdermal delivery of Oxcycodone has already been shown to deliver 24 hour pain relief through the application of a patch. They have a collaboration with 3M to develop a commercial version of the patch. Phase 2/3 testing should be very quick because the underlying drug, (Oxycodone), already has regulatory approval - POH are simply proving up a patented patch delivery technology that has the potential to do away with needles in regard to Oxcycodone.

DYOR

Cheers
Boomer

Hi Boomer

Thanks for your compliments, we should start a POH thread really as this is for the comp. The Vice President Personnel Care says it's gone nuts since the Today Tonight and TVSN shows!

We have a new leader - Rockon, steadily moving up in a market which has been moving down each month - I've posted the monthly XAO - will it range or break down from the M..... CCIs hint of a potential small rise as per early 2008

To watch: Kindren with RED, and Boomer with POH

September, and the picture is even grimmer in this comp. Only Rockon, Chriso and Boomer in the green.

comp

The scatter chart shows a lot of us are clumped together towards the lower end of the scale.

sc

Here’s a longer term picture of the XAO – I don’t like that M formation which has broken down for the second month, but this time with a close well below the trendline. The tails on the two candles do suggest rejection of lower prices - we can hope (oi! we never use that word in relation to the stockmarket!) for a small bounce as there was in early 2008 in time for the Dec 31 close of the comp?

xao

((Just a reminder that the market trades on Monday as the PH is not national - I got caught once, thought I had plenty of time to put a sell order in before Tuesday))

Just one month to go and we have a new leader - congratulations Espresso - shooting up to the lead with FMS following their cash offer from MMK. Rockon is very close behind.

Note that RED has been adjusted for the 10 for 1 consolidation.

The table is hard to read - have attached a pdf also.

Final results for 2012 comp.

Beautiful play by Boomer with POH, congratulations on a perfect choice for a year-long comp! Great results for Espresso and Rockon in 2nd and third place, both way ahead of special mention for Chriso, the only other tipster in the black. Stater, with adjustment of 1 for 3 consolidation in December, is just below the line.

comp1

The scatter chart shows the sad results for the rest of us.

comp2

The full year shows nice, steady performances for both Boomer and Rockon’s stocks.

comp3

My monthly XAO chart shows MACD hist negative divergence early in the year plus a negative cross of the MACD. The ADX turning up and crossing over DI+ below DI- also indicates strengthening of the downtrend. Add the M shape top and 2012 is not looking too positive to me.

comp4

And lastly, a weekly view of Boomer’s POH pick.

comp5

Hi Elizabeth,

On behalf of my fellow "Annual" Competitors would like to express thanks for running, and keeping 'professional' records, for this competition. My congrats to Boomer for his perfectly timed run also and the other place getters.

Timing, as most of us accept(especially in current markets) is of essence and that brings me to my last year's pick...NAV...Oh yes, "perfect"???timing! High for the year on the 1st trading day of the year(Jan 4th @ 17.1c...stock adjusted) and the low of the year(1.3c) on the 2nd last trading day of the year(well almost perfect)...I would guess rightfully qualifying her as the "DUD OF THE YEAR" with a whopping 92%+ loss!

Lastly, Elizabeth one question!...ARE YOU GAME ENOUGH TO CONTINUE RUNNING THIS COMPETITION FOR 2012?....PLEASE!

hAPPY nEW yEAR TO ALL!

Dolphin}}}

Thank you Elizabeth for organizing the comp for 2011, it is much appreciated.

If there are others who would like to see a comp for 2012, please make a short post to confirm your interest.

Hopefully Elizabeth will be kind enough to be the organizer again, however let's just see who would like to participate first.

Looks like we have two potential starters so far, Dolphin and Boomer ... surely there are others???

Boomer

I've been "absent" for a while but look to get more active in 2012. I'd be interested in the annual competition.
