Welcome to the forum Trevor and thanks for the kind words.
I look forward to a book review from you.
Did the Tweed flood at all ?
I certainly hope not.
Regards

No the Tweed was fine - thanks. It seems I have flood insurance as well!!

I look forward to the book delivery - about 7 days apparently.

I purchased Phil Town's "Payback Time" and "Rule #1" it changed my life, out of managed funds forever, especially when you check and the Funds hold stocks like Sigma Pharmaceuticals and then they apologise for having an overweight position which affected their returns.

Phil Town has a similar principle to that advocated by Roger Montgomery, the concept is about buying good companies at bargain prices and not "gambling" in any way. i.e. Companies with poor value, no growth record and unacceptable debt.

Some of the financial terms are different in the USA and there were some errors on the Payback Time website using their calculators (fixed after I let them know). But the spreadsheets were a big help. Using the concept, I had trouble finding bargain companies to buy here, so I thought I had the calculations all wrong.

In a brief moment Roger cleared up the concept and reasons why, he has adopted a process, that is easy for us in Australia to understand using our terms and language.
