Interesting article regarding genetic modification, and implications regarding "monsanto" taking over the world food supply.

I wonder what will happen when health organizations warn about consuming this kind of food. Will it be possible to avoid it ?

G'day again Ehmu, not trolling you, promise!

Heard about this a few years ago not a pretty thing....there are worse things happening but getting back to your original question...there is not a huge range of foods which are GM at the moment...we are looking at:

Soybeans (hate tofu, yeah I know it is in almost everything which is pumped as high protein, so we are looking at a ship load of foodstuffs)

Corn, one of my faves.

Cotton (cotton seed oil) mmmm chips in cottonseed oil..not!

Alfalfa not into weeds on my plate.

Hawaiian papaya...yeah, whatevr

Tomatoes...suffer baby... I don't eat them 'cos it flares up my arthritis.

Canola oil...what a hyped product this is...olive and coconut oil are my choices.

Sugar Cane... sugar rots your teeth and makes you fat so
I guess we should live without it GM or not.

Sugar beet...WTF is that? it looks like a turnip but I think it is mostly a yank food, so who cares?

Rice...now this is not good...maybe they want to stitch up the Asians.

Squash (zucchini)...come on, be honest who gives a flying duck about zucchinis...squishy squashy tasteless things!

Sweet peppers....I rather like these stuffed with cheese and soaked in oil...I might do these things until I begin to sprout a sixth finger!

However...organic products are free from GM stuff, so unless there is some wind-born cross pollination they are clean.

There is also the various seed saver groups who market heirloom vegetable seeds...it isn't all that hard to avoid GM products. However I really do share your concern about Monsanto.

There is a lot more I could mention which would frighten the sox off you, well beyond GM food...however, enough is enough and I keep in mind a principle I learned over 40 years ago....KISS....Keep It Simple Sweet-heart. Keep your food simple and it is easy enough to avoid the nasties.

It never occurred to me that you might be a troll.

However, as I reflect on your choice of Avatars, I become a little worried.

You're very well informed about what you eat and have thought about it a great deal.

The article only discussed GM foods, but it occurs to me that there is irradiation, and hundreds of other methods to keep food appearing fresh for market. We are not designed to consume preservatives for their nutritional value.

Personally I'm very vulnerable to hidden nutritional abuse, since my eating style is fashioned after the common human frailty "I'm on a see-food diet"; I see food, then I eat it.
