Welcome to the "June Solstice to September Equinox Challenge ".

This Challenge will start on the week beginning July 4th and run until September 30th over a period of 13 weeks. At the completion of that time an acknowledgement by way of the award of "(cyber) medals" of Gold, Silver and Bronze will be made to the top 3 achievers. Last place will also be acknowledged with the award of a "(cyber) wooden spoon".

This Weekly Comp is aimed at the non-professional market entrant with $5,000 drawn off his mortgage or credit card, a standard trading account and a day job (probably also with a wife and dependent kids).

This stock tipping Challenge will use Monday's open price for the entry and Friday's close as the exit.

An intra-week "Stop" may be nominated on any day - Monday to Thursday - and will be taken as having been received after that day's market close. The closing price of the position will be the next day's open price, that being the nearest available exit price. Activating that "Stop" would close the entrant's position until the start of the following week, and no new position may be opened for the purposes of the Comp until then. A new pick may be nominated towards the end of the week in which the "Stop" was applied for the following week's trading.

Only long positions may be be nominated, with a unit price no lower than $0-05. Any day that a stock closes below $0-05 an automatic stop will be applied on that day, using the close price for that day as the exit price. No entries for warrants, exchange traded options or other derivative products will be accepted, only entries of ASX tickers for ordinary shares and ASX ticker "Gold".

Nominations should be accompanied by a chart clearly showing the Technical Analysis used, with a short explanation of how that Technical Analysis is being applied. It is preferred that Incredible Charts software be used for chart postings.

"Long Continuous" (LC) positions maybe be nominated prior to 4pm on Friday to maintain a new or existing position into the following week, or the following Comp. "Good 'Till Cancelled" (GTC) positions may also be nominated before Friday's close, and will be treated as an LC with an automatic renewal, within the duration of the current Comp. Carry-over of GTC and LC positions into a new Comp will require notification by way of a post to the weekly thread prior to the last Friday close of the current Comp.

Any entrant who has not elected, by way of a post in the weekly thread, to use their "Stop", "Long Continuous" or "Good 'Till Cancelled" option, or has not had an automatic stop applied for a close below $0-05, will automatically receive Friday's close as their exit.

An entrant who has a position that goes into a Trading Halt will be required to retain that position until the stock resumes trading. They may then nominate to "Stop" out at the following day's open, or retain the position until a normal Friday exit is automatically applied.

Each entrant will be awarded a starting capital of $5,000 cyber-dollars and gains on positions will be added to that amount on a weekly basis, while losses will be subtracted from it. Anyone reaching a capital of $10,000 may split their cyber-capital into 2 positions of $5,000 each, if they choose, or continue to use the $10,000 on a single position.

Short term weekly awards for First, Second, Third and Last place (spoon) will be acknowledged and recorded. The amount of gain or loss on the weekly position will be applied to the entrant's accumulated capital.

Any new entrant to the challenge should feel free to ask for help regarding posting, as there are many here familiar with the conditions and methods used.

Please place your tips and chart here in this thread.

Rockon HOR L

Hoping for an open (or close) at 21 to fill the gap before attempting to move higher. Lower prices on almost non existent volume over the last 2 days, I see as a positive. Plenty of stumbling blocks in both directions though.

Congrats to Steven on his first win in his first comp.

Where will all that carbon tax money go?
Maybe into alternative energy such as geothermal?
That would explain the spike in the price over the past week.

Speculative, I know, but many investors will be scratching their heads on Monday morning (after Julia's carbon charm offensive) wondering about the $ impact.

Peter
If I may join the comp I would like to run with ILU this week. Had I joined last week I would have picked either ILU or PNA. I am currently holding both. Not much free time these days so if possible, all my trades will be LC unless otherwise stated. Stop at 15% below purchase price unless otherwise stated.

ILU

Thanks, enjoy the comp.

Shawky,

....so if possible, all my trades will be LC unless otherwise stated.

Welcome, and you are encouraged to participate to the extent you are able to do so.

Please be aware that specifying LC will only get you Friday's close as your weekly opening price, and only if so nominated before Friday's close. An LC pick must be renewed before each Friday's close remain in play.

If you want a pick to be automatically continuous you will need to specify it as GTC (Good 'Till Cancelled) at the time of nominating the pick. A GTC pick will only be closed at the request of the tipster - the rules (posted at the beginning of this, and every weekly, thread should make this clear.

Welcome to the Comp.

jaded,KZL,L

not my usual choice from a momentum scan but "my" copper go YTC gapped on news friday and doesn't appeal to me as a comp pick.
KZL is a copper producer trying to make a deal to takeover a nearby prospect tenement. A producer ensuring future production is "appealing" to proper, respectable holders ie it is a desirable quality
and I'm hoping that the quality bargain buyers will boost this thru the marked resistance 64.5 this week.
ie do d'Fallen Angel routine on KZL taking it back to former glories.

Baggus, PCL, L

I'm glad to be back after a few weeks absence and hopefully a few more will join us also.

PanCon has been one of those rare stocks that has been going up whilst most of the market is locked in a downtrend. It seems a good example of rising up the staircase in both regular amounts and by pattern structure. Last week played out yet another pennant pattern in its staircase rise and provided PCL doesn't close below 11c I beleive we will see it at 15c soon.

Dolphin, ABY, L...

A few other good potentials out there after last week's action... AKI, AUK, and CSS...but I'm for a bit of conservatism this week(after Gillard's C.T. announcement) and am therefore choosing ABY. Besides, I'll be away from my computer watching for most of this week and therefore can't monitor as would normally.

Hopefully, my chart is clear enough for all to see...

1)...Weekly TAZ(W.T.) coming from 150EMA(30Wk EMA) previous Friday and price action confirmed last Friday.

2)...For the Gannsters/Fibo boys...Bounce/support coming from the 0.618 retracement level of last upswing range(Mar.15 to April 29th) BUT also the 'co-incidental'? Fibo time (recipricol)relationship of that range to last Thursday's low(1:1.618 in time)...therefore, time and price squaring!

3)..."knee-jerk" bounce from false breakdown of consolidation pennant pattern over last two days. I say, consolidation pattern because the decreasing volume action throughout the duration of this pattern supports/suggests this!

4)...Friday's price action also broke above the narrow(grey) downtrend channel BUT has yet to break above the upper boundary of the pennant pattern.

5)...Many oscillators have "turned-up" or now have crossed over from over sold levels..e.g. the MACD has shown a +ve cross but still below the 0 line.

This all points to higher prices for this week and may be more one would think.

Good and safe trading all.

Dolphin

Gamefisherman SDL L please

Whilst the stock was in a downtrend this was broken recently, after a sidewards stint, SDL has been in accumulation mode and finished strongly on Friday. With solid market depth, a Bullish RSI,I am left wondering if this is the start of a new uptrend.

Best Wishes to All

Sadly i think SEA and SDL are the wrong way around..

Gamefisher is ahead of me. , we are both trading companies called Sundance but the prices aren't correct in regard to the stock codes.

I very much appreciate your efforts keeping the scores

Sorry about the late post. Not much has changed since last week, price continuing to trade in the sideways trend within the support and resistance lines,
the price is trading above the 21 day EMA with small weekly supporting volume consistent over 2million hare traded. price trading just below the resistant line with the higher lows on the weekly. weekly MACD indicators continue to trend up and move apart. histogram trending above zero. currently not showing however TMF indicator is below zero would prefer otherwise.
Good luck everyone cheers

JimmySwell retains the lead, but Espresso has leapt into contention.

A slightly better day for the markets -
or perhaps more accurately a bit less-bad.

Week 2, Thursday :

Espresso has made an impressive move to claim the lead.

Moves by JimmySwell and GameFisherman were almost as impressive.

New entrant Shawky has moved up into the green.

Big miners were bought after an initial dip, but the banks were sold hard.
Looking like a bipolar market, right now.

Significant win for Espresso.
Pretty impressive result from JimmySwell as well.
